My brand new 2024 with 2,500 miles on it does this as well. Has since the day i picked it up.
As others have pointed out, I've been told it's just the torque converter locking. Don't think it's anything to worry about.
Update on this for me. I traded in my 2018 Platinum for a '24 801A Raptor last month. I got very lucky and found my exact desired spec (Carbonized Gray, no moonroof, spray in bed liner) an hour away from me and I got it for MSRP.
Very happy without the moonroof. I had Xpel ceramic window tint...
Looks great! PP2s are rare, I hardly see them.
I understand what you mean. I definitely miss my Mustang some days. Mine had the factory active exhaust with an H pipe, springs, struts, camber/caser plates, rear cradle lockout kit, and wide and lighter wheels and tires. Stock power. You can...
Reviving this thread with a quick update: It finally happened. I bought a 2024 801A today! Carbonized gray with the rare (and preferred by me) NO moonroof option. Got it in state for MSRP and a fair trade in for my 2018 F150 Platinum.
I knew upgrading from my Platinum that the Raptor was going...
I have a 2018 Platinum that I plan on upgrading to a 2024/2025 Raptor within the next 6 - 8 months. My 2018 has the moonroof and it creaks and rattles and drives me insane every single day. I will order my Raptor WITHOUT the moonroof. I never use it, ever. It's just extra weight on the top...
Agreed, I share similar views. I think the chances of me pulling the trigger on a Raptor are pretty high, just need to wait for what I feel is the right time!
I appreciate the response! It's thought provoking for sure. Really nice fleet you have there!
Yes, I sold the mustang back in August. I feel like I got out at the right time just before S650s started hitting dealer lots and the used car market started to soften a bit. Some days I do miss...
Update. I sold the Mustang yesterday for what I thought was a fair price. Will get a decent equity check from the sale too. Hopefully ford unveils the 2024 trucks soon so I can make a decision on a Raptor!
So today I went to a local Ford dealership and test drove a black 2022 Raptor with 35s. I was very impressed. Definitley many improvements over my 2018 Platinum from the interior quality, tech, suspension/ride, and steering feel. I also really enjoyed the factory exhaust note, especially in...
Thanks everyone for the input. Definitley a lot to think about. There are some used Gen 3 Raptors nearby that I should obviously test drive sometime before making a decision. I'll be keeping the Mustang through October/November of this year (at least), and by then 2024 MYs should be out, so I...
That Mustang was clean! Glad to hear you don't have any regrets and are enjoying the Raptor. I have about $20k positive equity in my truck and about $11k positive equity in the Mustang. That would allow me to put a nice down payment down on a Raptor if I choose to go that route.
Thanks for your comment. I'm glad you mentioned this. I'm not married and don't have kids, so it's easier to justify having a 2-door sports car right now. If I was married with kids, Mustang would be gone and likely not an option unless I had enougnh cash to have 3 cars. Point I'm making is...
I bet that visceral experience is even more profound with a GT350 relative to my GT. Completely understand what you're saying.
I'm in the Charlotte, NC area. I don't think there are great trails or opportunities to fully utilize the Raptor off-road nearby, but we do have mountains/hills to...
There are definitley days where I'm very happy I have it. It's not necessarily the speed that's exciting, it's more shifting gears and the throaty/aggressive exhaust sound that brings me the most joy.
Off-roading with with Raptor will be very limited. I will admit that it will be a pavement...
Haha the comment about SHTF resonates with me. The same thing crosses my mind. Mustang would be completely useless in that scenario, whereas I'd feel almost invincible in a Raptor.
Thanks for your perspective. I also like the idea of only paying for gas, modding, and paying property tax on...
I couldn't swing both at this point in time, at least comfortably/responsibly.
Yes, it's a 6-speed manual. Only has 15k miles on it. I've also put $2,500 of suspension work into it and just put a nice set of larger wheels and tires on it a few months ago. Stock tune/power. It's fun and...
I appreciate both of your replies. I do sometimes worry that I'd end up regretting my choice and want the fun car back. Both of my current cars complement each other well, but like I said I can't shake the thought of the Raptor for some reason. I keep coming back to it!
Who has transitioned from owning just a sports car or a two car set up (daily driver + sports car/fun weekend car) to a Raptor?
Presently, I daily drive a 2018 F150 Platinum and also have a 2020 Mustang GT Premium as a "fun" car that I drive on the weekends. I've owned the Mustang for 1.5 years...
