I had my selling dealership look into a whistling noise emanating from my engine bay. They said it was just the rush of air entering the airbox. That doesn't make too much sense to me. It's a high pitched whistling noise. You can hear it steadily between 50-60 miles per hour, or on initial acceleration after a stop. I can't seem to reproduce the sound at idle either. Even if I have my wife hit the skinny pedal to rev the engine a bit. It's very distinctive when driving though. Any ideas???

Got a video/audio recording of the sound ?

I've tried getting a video, but the wind noise while driving makes it very difficult to pick up on audio. It almost sounds like the turbo whistle from the ecoboost engine only a little more subtle.

Is Your F-250 a diesel? If it is, that makes sense since you would hear the turbo whistle from your engine. The noise started about two weeks after I bought the truck, so it wasn't something it was doing before. The only thing I can think of is maybe a bad idler pulley from water intrusion. The truck does see the dirt and mud a few times a week. It hasn't been in water more than about 12 inches deep though, so I'm not sure.

I was gonna say some after market intakes make a whistle sound but you said it didn't do it before and just started so can't be that.

6.2 just a faint whisle when window down cant hear it with windows up??

It started out faint. Now it's gotten louder and more obvious.

I've checked my stock intake twice and didn't see anything out of place. I would think if it was my intake I would be able to reproduce the noise while accelerating in Park, but I've tried that as well. Sound won't happen unless the engine is under load while driving.
