The Start Logo Ford, Lincoln, Mustang or Raptor select the update software after reading the VIN in the BCM. Also if there a Lincoln logo in the update, it should not be installed with a F-150 VIN in the BCM.
Custom selection of 3.8 update sold solve this problem.

The upgrade process doesn't query other modules on the vehicle. And the VIN is contained in the APIM, so looking outside of the APIM wouldn't do any good. If it was a VIN Mismatch in the APIM, there would be a hard-fault logged so once again there would be no need to look outside of the APIM for information.

The upgrade is a very simple process. The APIM recognizes the upgrade and follows the filelist as an answer file. No magic, just basic JCL. It does look at the version information in the APIM and the specific part number of the APIM to choose what files to install. In our particular case some of us share the same APIM part number as the Lincoln.

What was most noticeable with this upgrade was the lack of the basic Ford logo as part of the upgrade. With 3.7, the Raptors would default to the Ford Splash screen.

Now that we all know how to do it, when Ford releases 3.9 we can edit the file in advance PRIOR to installation...

Splash Screen Update

I reported the problem to Ford via chat support for Sync. They said other owners have reported the problem and they are working on it. I'm supposed to receive a follow up call within 3 business days. The more people that report the problem the faster it will get fixed. Here's a link to the Sync chat support. They will ask you for your VIN.

Live Chat

For anyone who went through with the 3.8 update and has the Lincoln splash screen and wants to revert back to their Raptor splash screen. Using the following method I was able to reinstall my Raptor graphics.

Do this at your own risk... I am not responsible for any issues you may encounter...

Copy the following files/Folder to your USB drive (or if you still have all your files on your USB drive simply delete the extra files in the SyncMyRide folder and just edit the autoinstall.lst):
autoinstall.lst
DONTINDEX.MSA
SyncMyRide

In the SyncMyRide folder the only file you will need is the EA5T-14F496-MA.zip file which contains the Raptor specific splash screen files.

Once the files are copied edit the autoinstall.lst file. It should look like the following:

;;;
;;; The following tags are software versions supported by this update
;;;

[SYNCGen2_3.08.15128]
Item1 = EA5T-14F496-MA.zip
Open1 = \SyncMyRide\EA5T-14F496-MA.zip
Options = AutoInstall

That should be it, pop the USB in and away you go. Update takes seconds to complete since only the splash screen files are being copied over.

I added screenshots below. 'Untitled' is the ROOT of my USB drive. Ignore the shaded files as those are system files that I have unhidden on my machine.

Still haven't heard back from Ford. I asked my kid to dig into it. He found the Ford patch that fixed the similar splash screen problem in 3.7 The patch is identical NorhternILRaptor's fix. My kid edited the patch so that it would work on 3.8 and uploaded to Dropbox. Click on the link below to download-

https://www.dropbox.com/s/tudpw21egyq6yr8/Gen2v37_RaptorPatch.zip?dl=1

You don't need a Dropbox account to download. Click the x if a Dropbox log in screen pops up and you don't have an account.

Again, this is the official Ford Patch for 3.7. The only change my kid made was was one line that referenced the software version. We popped the USB with the edited patch into my truck and as mentioned before it literally took 2 seconds to update. Lincoln logo is gone. Raptor logo is back.

Instructions:

This only works if you have already updated to version 3.8

Download the file from the link above.

Unzip contents to blank USB (formatted to FAT32)

Plug in to Raptor

Files will auto install and prompt when finished.

Well I did the 3.8 update and turned my Raptor in Lincoln Presidential Series. I also lost my custom backgrounds.

Don't know if my phone will sync, I need to test that out.

The patch worked though as I lost the Presidential option.

Thanks :)

I had to setup my phone(s) again. It seems that all existing bluetooth pairings are wiped out when you upgrade.

I did the upgrade, got the Lincoln screen, then did the update with the code fix to get the Raptor splash screen back. This all worked as planned, the only issue I'm seeing is when I unlock the car and get in I don't get the Raptor Splash screen anymore, it just lights up with a white glow and then fades to black. I use to get the Raptor Splash screen here as well. When I put the key in or when I take the key out I get the Raptor Splash like I always did though.

Any ideas what happened? Or is anyone else seeing this as well?
