Just a question
The baja is mostly NA
But the dakar run mostly tubo's
Both are desert like...

Any one able to explain why the dakar series is able to work with the tubos ( mostly european and asian cars/trucks) and the US isn't able to get it workin well ??

This is what i take from all the comments..not sure if its realy the truth.

I don't need to prove shit to you or anyone else, I saw what I saw and its my own assessment if I believe in this technology or not. Let's just say those turbos run hot....

Turbos are great just not to make a week er motor strong. Just so you can use sed motor. Add a turbo to a v6 you have a turned v6.

I am unsure but is there a drastic elevation difference between the two races? This could be the only reason I think they would run turbos. If the Dakar is run at a higher altitude than the Baja, a N/A engine would be extremely bogged down, where a turbo would be able to make much more power. I'm not sure of the truth behind this statement but I once heard that turbos do not care about altitude they make the same amount of boost wherever they are. I don't know if anyone can verify this, just an idea

I knew when someone came up with evidence that the existing V6TT struggled in a true off road environment that he would get blazed by all the TT supporters. @RDFTS just happens to be the first to witness these power plants at a Raptor Run and say something about it. It wasn't positive or negative. Just an observation. Then @zanemasterx makes it all personal.....

God forbid someone have an opinion not backed up by pages of evidence contrary to the guys with pages of evidence and zero personal experience. Can't a person just state a personal observation that he saw at an ACTUAL event and state the facts as he sees them? If the ******* thing got hot, then it got hot. Don't get all butt-hurt because it was contrary to what you heard these engines would be able to handle.

How many times have we heard how good something should perform, and then in actual testing, it took a huge dump on your dreams? Deal with it TT supporters. This whole V6TT thing may not be the best option.....

But, maybe Ford will come out with an updated setup to handle these types of environments. Maybe they won't. Either way, lets attempt not to make it personal every time someone states an observation - good or bad. The real battle should be fought trying to figure out how to make what Ford gives us work for what we need, be it a street truck or an off road truck.

Elivation between the baka and the dakar are aqual for the african dakar
The south american dakar is diffrent story with the andess coming to play

Turbos indeed increase performance at high altitude but still suffer losses just waaaay less

I was more askin about the Heat issue...just look at the world rally cars.
They run turbo's 400+hp (limited by rules but capable of way more)
And they don't run in to heat issues

So they must have better ventilation and overall oil cooling or something
And i am trying to figure what the issue is and what the solution is the top motorsport offroad machines use to battle this

Hence my comparison of baja versus dakar (most equal in distance sence and enviroment)
Rally is not comparable because of this is more like a sprint race in comparison

Doesn't Dakar run mostly turbo diesels with only 350-400hp?
