Hey all,
So for the past two weeks or so I have been experiencing a metallic rattling sound from the front end while going through certain RPM ranges. The range where this is most common is around 1750-2100. The noise will stop the second you let off the gas though. I just got it back from the dealership where they spent two days tightening the front skid plates with no change in the noise. I searched on here and found some solutions such as tightening the UCA bolts.
The fact that the noise stops right when I let off the gas has me leaning towards an exhaust/engine issue. Any one have any suggestions or a similar problem?

Truck:
2010 5.4 54k miles
Volant CAI with Powercore
Magnaflow Magnapack

Thanks in advance!

It literally could be a huge number of things. Just because you hear it at a certain rpm doesn't mean it isn't rattling all the time whatever it is. At higher RPMs it could be rattling at a high pitch as you just don't hear it. I'd check everything on the front end from the UCAs to the radiation attachment bolts man just check to make sure everything is right and word of advice start checking everything on the truck often or whenever you do an oil change. Preventative maintenance keeps you from having to replace things that could have been prevented haha I have a 2010 with 58,138 miles on her and I'm always checking things on her I run full synthetic everything in her from the engine to the rear differential. And she's been running very strong since day one! Hope you find it man and hope its nothing to seriouse!

Try checking the shield on your catalytic converter. I had this issue on my xlt. It would only happen in that same rpm range. When I took it to the dealer I drove it around with the mechanic in the truck. With it in drive step on the brake and run the rpms up, if it makes the noise I am willing to bet that shield is the issue. Mine had come loose when i had to finagle the pipe off to put my new exhaust on.

I have the exact same rattling when i let off the gas, it goes away.

5.4L @ 53K miles.

I replaced one heat shield clamp that was cracked and loose where the exhaust pipe goes runs Left- right side, but it didn't fix the rattle.

Did anyone find out the cause of the rattle?

Just throwing this out there...
I had an annoying rattle on my 911 C4S that I could not find for weeks. It never happened at start-up, but once up to temp the rattle would start. Goes away under heavy throttle, but pulling into the garage it sounded horrible. After tightening and re tightening everything I could think of, the sound finally went away when I installed Cat delete pipes.... Sure enough, something inside the passenger side cat had come loose and would rattle. Never affected performance, just caused noise.

Reminds me of an experience I had with my Ranger. It had developed a tinny rattle that was speed dependent. I lost count of the number of hours I spent looking for it, tapping on stuff with a hammer etc. It went on that way for quite some time. One day it came time to change the ATF in the t-case. I looked up over the cross-member / skid plate (which had the edges bent up from the factory to form kind of a dish) at the drain plug. Low and behold, I see a flat rock about 1.5" O.D. down in there. It could not be seen from any other angle. I pulled the rock out, no more rattle. I no longer have the truck, but still have the rock.
