Ford has already said the V8 will not be dead in the Mustang and F150 after 2017 after horsepowerkings published that one BS report of them killing the V8.

It would suck to buy the 2017 and then they bring back the V8 mid year or 2018.
Kind of like they did back in 2011 to all the people who bought 09-10's F150's. Wouldn't be surprised if they pull that again since the Raptor is going to have the 10 speed trans.

After surprisingly low sales numbers for the new 2017 Raptor, Ford is rethinking a V8 option!
The all new Off-Road truck that looks like a cross between a Chevy and a Toyota...

No V8, no buy... (just me who's owned many a V8 and like the performance and sound of a real engine)

Think about this.... When the original Raptor came out with a 5.4, people pissed and moaned... out came the 6.2 and no one wanted the 5.4 because the 6.2 was better. V6 vs V8? which one is better?

Also, the V6 will sell because most Raptors only see city streets and garages. A lot of Raptors are sold beacuse it's "the cool truck to own" even though the drivers don't even know what it can do and will never get it dirty.

What's funny is that before this announcement everyone kept complaining you couldn't get the ecoboost in a raptor!

I do agree there should be a engine choise, optional v8 or ecoboost v6, just like they do with the new mustang.

I'm thinking that maybe ford is working on a v8 but it isn't ready in time for the 2017 model year.

Thats my fear. Ill take the ttv6 all day as it sits right now and not complain because it has more power and tq than the old 6.2L and more is more in my eyes. Would I be pissed if they decided to throw a ttv8 into the Raptor the following year? Hell yes I would. Im committed to buying the 2017 as it is now but if it comes up with a ttv8 or any bigger badder motor the following year Ill be pissed. Hopefully Ford learned from their mistake with the 5.4 to 6.2.

Guess we can only wait and see.

Regardless of what the Ford experts here are saying, there is still plenty of time for the engineers to add more options. Will it happen? who knows, only time will tell. They switched the 5.4 to the 6.2 in the middle of production. They might even go one engine option in 2017 then add another option in 2018. Only time will tell what happens. Not the "experts" here who claim to know the decision making process at ford.
