I went with the VP and love it. Depends what you are using it for. Some guys want to sit on it so they get the one with a higher load rating

I'm torn between the VP and the Roll-x. I will hardly ever haul anything and if I do I will probably just take it off. People are saying that the vinyl looks cheap but I personally think that the hard plastic looks cheaper. What are the load ratings on the VP vs. the Roll-x? I doubt I would ever sit on it, maybe my kids if anybody.

No there are plenty of options from bed rail to roof mount to door lip. There is a thread with lots of mount options.

Yes, you will have problems if you do not do several things. All have been detailed in my build thread, if you have the patience to go through, lol.

in a nut shell:
  1. locktite the 6 bolts/clamps and torque until the aluminum clamp bends. I used a long bar clamp to avoid the torque pulling it off.
  2. If you have "BakBox" Secure with straps to the bed so it does not want to jump out, contents included!
  3. If you plan on using more than once off road, you will need to secure the bedsides from spreading. There are kits to do this. I could not use the kits as it would interfere with my ABS bed cage so I installed oversize eyebolts in existing holes (inside of tail lights) and reinforced with heavy duty washers. I use a ratchet strap to pull the bedsides in to keep from spreading. See my post "Mystery of the disappearing cooler" and you will understand the "why".
