I just got my 2014 Supercrew and Ive been planning on bolting a roof rack to the roof. Im going for a lower profile rack to attach some LED light bars in the front and rear corners of the truck. Has anyone ever done something similar with another raptor or F150? Any suggestions for mounting points or ideas for additional waterproofing? It also has a sunroof. Ive dropped the headliner to look for good mounting points, but the side airbags and the sunroof take up most of the interior of the roof.

I think there are some that just tighten against the roof without having to drill, but I haven't looked into it. Keep up posted! Its gonna look pretty sweet!

Why not a front roof mount for a 54" in front and a bed cage in the back for the rear facing?
That's not a bad idea. I like the look of a full rack though. No pun intended. I'm having the rack custom made and I want to be able to put some ski carriers on it.
I'm in Lubbock, Texas. I am currently having the rack custom made, the only thing that worries me is that he is confident in silicone alone for waterproofing, I am not. I found some pressure sealing washers on McMaster Carr. Here is the link

Why not do a door frame mount similar to what cop light bars have? Is that too simple? You will just need to bend some light gauge steel and screw it into the door frame.
I want it to be a little more versatile than that, I'm not going to throw a spare tire up there, but I want to be able to tie down lighter objects. I'm also having the rear lights set into the frame of the rack on the rear corners so it should look pretty sleek.

I'm with you, there's very little I trust silicone with, especially hard surfaces. Butyl Is usually a good bet where silicone fails. It can be purchased in a tube, but the tape is probably what you're looking for. It's UV and temperature resistant, long lasting, and sticks to just about anything.
If you use the tape, you can cut it to the size and shape of your mounting pads, and your fasteners will draw it through the roof and fill the thread pitch. I use it when mounting fixtures to asphalt roofing, but it's been used in window glazing forever. I stake my insurance policy on it, and there's a lot of 0s on that one! Google search for "Butyl tape" should get you plenty of options.
