Stock cats can get up to 1,600 degrees, hi-flow cats and the fact you're running a cat back system won't ever reach those temps.

There are plenty of warp materials out on the market.
You would need to use header warp around the cats and pipes, maybe not warp the whole cat up but work the warp in such a manner that will keep the front of the cat opened.
They make warps that once you heat them up they become a ceramic like hard shell. Expensive though.

But I would try a piece stainless steel plate and make something up, and upgrade your trans cooler with fans if your going to do a lot of extreme offroading.

Grant what did you use to wrap the starter?

Yukon Joe
GREAT LAKES RAPTOR EXCURSIONS

these are the two items I picked up from Summit, installed the Mylar on the starter. Plan to use the gold stuff for the tranny pan shield.

I have the SW LT w/cats, and I tracked my trans temp right after the run, we peaked at 230 degrees, but dropped off quickly as we rolled into the pits.

230 seems very high, pulling my 4500 pound boat up the highway I get to around 205-210. anyone else check their temps? I'm talking to TMX about a tranny cooler.

Probably a good idea. These Raptors have the ability to do it all, things like slow speed rock crawling/trail riding and heavy towing can really heat up the transmission quickly, keeping it cool is a good idea header or not.....

Have yall looked at building a heat sheild for under the tranny pan? i got to talk to the tranny tech and he gave me some ideas of something that might go crossmember to crossmember and sheild the pan some. if yall built one, id buy 2 right now!
