I'm gearing up for the hunting season here in Colorado, and trying to get everything put together before I go. I usually always have a set of chains with me for the truck, but according to the owners manual, tire chains are a no-no unless you downsize the tires. I don't really feel like dropping the cash for a set of rubbers that I'm only going to use on this truck two times a year.

The question is, if I run chains on this beast, am I definitely going to screw something up, or if I run carefully will I be ok? Has anybody else ran chains with the stock rubber on? What's the worst case scenario for breakage?

I really never needed them, to me the Raptor is more than sure footed enough without them. Just a couple of sandbags in the back. Then again Kansas City, MO is relatively flat compared to Colorado.

We get pretty far back into the national forest when we go, on some pretty nasty roads. I'm anticipating the roads being passable with no chains, but at 10,000' a storm can dump a couple feet of snow on you without much warning this time of year. I'd like to figure out what I'm likely to break if I do have to run them, but I'll run chains before I dump my truck down a ravine.

You should be fine. Up here we don't use em and everything fine. Now I'm not 10,000' up, buy hills/inclines are the same no matter the height.

As for the couple feet of snow from a storm, well chains ain't gonna help anyways haha
