mine had 82 miles on it because they picked it up at the train yard some 35 miles away and they drove it in, they did asked me first,
i don't think they will risk anyone fool around with 50k vehicles.
when i got there i was asked if i wanted to test it first, i said no i want to get the paperwork done first
i later found they had waiting list on it if i backed out

I didn't get in the guy's way when I went for the test drive, hell after he was satisfied he pulled over and let me take her back to the dealer. Be fair warned though he told me straight out "ford tells us when we take them out to drive it like you stole it!" he said helps to see if there's any unusual noises under strain...I asked him very nicely to not do any WOT take offs on this drive he said sounds good.

On another note the dealer included nitrogen in the tires...he asked what pressure I wanted I said 45 psi as I was going about 1100kms on the highway home...idiot puts 55psi in when the tires clearly state "Max 50psi" it really is hard to find good help these days.

Nothing wrong with looking after your stuff and wanting it taking care off...I see the way folks treat their own shit and wonder what they would do if it wasn't theirs...

Better safe than sorry - pardon the cliche...

Sorry but I would not let a customer in the shop to watch for many reasons but insurance regulations prohibit customers from being in the shop. It is just a truck so relax. They need to drive it and make sure that it does not have any rattles, vibrations etc. The last thing the dealer wants is to deliver the vehicle to you and have you come back saying it hasa noise or???? The dealers need it to be as perfect as you want it because they do not want you to rip on them when you get your survey from Ford. Bottom line let them do there job

But some of us like to watch...the Guys let me back to watch when they work on the truck...hell I even bring them doughnuts and other shit sometimes...now I don't get In their way, but I do try to learn a thing or two, and sometimes I can actually be of help...since I know the truck better then them

But if they asked me to leave for whatever reason I would do that as well....

i wish this thread would die so im reposting. in '04 i bought a new ranger. 2 months later i was parked at the liquor store, inside buying my dinner, and when i came out someone had backed into it, hit and run. never found em. new ranger in '08. 4 months later an suv runs a stop sign coming from my right (young+blond+female+probably texting=inattentive) and i ram my right front end into it. over 6 weeks in the body shop cuz i wasnt happy with the first outcome. try driving a kio rio rental for 6 weeks and not want to blow your brains out. to this day, anytime a vehicle approaches a stop sign hurredly from my right i hit the brakes, cuz my mind thinks theyre not stopping. what, me? nervous wreck? maybe just a little bit

PDI is not mandatory -- that is if you're dealer is cool with it. I've had my last couple of cars (Shelby, Raptor) skip the PDI - once it arrived at the dealer, I was the only one that touched it, even before I signed for it. The only thing you need to have them do is take it out of "transport" mode so all the electronic options are good to go. It's probably fine to let them do the PDI, except for driving it anywhere!
