One comment on the SC to off-road. At the Texas Raptor Run this year we went through mud puddles built fairly deep and I followed along. The AFE CAI I had (which uses most of the stock intake box) got plenty of mud, and the AFE dry filter was splashed (about 1/2 of the surface) w/ mud.
The Whipple kit removes the stock box, and leaves a LOT of the filter directly open to the underside and front of the truck. While not a concern in normal driving, I'm fairly sure that hitting those mud pits at speed is gonna put water/mud directly on the filter in volume. So...am considering making a plate to help deflect from a a direct path, and getting replacement filters and/or a wet filter at worst. Not sure.
For anybody who LIKES playing in the mud at higher speed - I'd say there's a need for evaluate the enclosure on the SC filter intake for keeping the moisture off it and out of the engine.
