True, but at least our heated seats, mirrors, and heated steering wheel still work.

That’s absurd. BMW did something similar for 2022’s also.

Either way, I’m very excited to get the TRX. The wait certainly seems worth it. Don’t think I’m going to miss the V6

Look at some of the crap vehicles on the road. People will buy anything. (not saying the Raptor is crap). The "R" will sell just fine. In a few years $110K will not be so outlandish. Same was asked/said about the original Lightning in early 2000's.

As for the TRX, you can buy a dead horse cheap too, but what good is it?

Sure why not if you can afford it. My 18’ 802a was spendy (to us) when we bought it. However comma after almost 3 years and countless great adventures, amazing utility and fun, selling it or trading it is never ever discussed. If it even gets whispered, my wife actually beats me to the “no way we’re selling “my Raptor” punch.

PS: Our other vehicle is a stock Tacoma we use for a DD and on the Taco forum a recent thread read “ever see a dirty Raptor?”

One posted “Raptor guys can afford car washes” :)

112k is nuts, I agree Ford saw the ADM for the 6 popper, said let’s get some of that. I will buy if I have the chance, order is in. No word if I get selected by whom ever makes that decision.
The R and TRX will be the last of the high HP ICE truck breed. In five years we are all going to be driving old dirty beaters or Lightning’s with gas powered generator in the back.

Find me another vehicle between $80-$125k MSRP that can meet or beat the Raptor R in more than 1/2 of the following categories (spoiler alert- even if you beg the Germans, you can’t!)

Cargo room
Towing capacity
Payload
HP
TQ
Power:weight ratio
Ground clearance
1/4 mile
Ability to jump? (Sorry but it IS a feature lol)
Tech
Luxury
Cameras #/quality
Tire size
Sidewall thickness
Drive modes
“Drivetrain modes” (2wd/AWD/4hi/4lo)
Locking diff
10 speed trans
4.10 gears
Resale/value retention potential
DD capable in terms of any weather
DD capable in terms of overall comfort
Versatility

You know what you’ll wind up finding? The only things even close besides the hellcat crowd (TRX included) are crazy loaded/optioned heavy duty diesel trucks.

This exercise essentially proves out why an SUV (to me) as a DD is simply a compromise for someone who can’t justify/afford having a performance/sports type car & a truck. OR (very often the case- hand raised) you have kids. Even if it’s an absolute 2wd beater….the basic utility of a truck already makes it able to do some very important things other vehicles simply can’t do. And the interiors on full size trucks these days are as spacious as they come.

Loaded up luxury sport SUVs are fun & cool & utilitarian, but not more fun/cool than a sports car/sedan & SUvs are very useful - but def not more so
