GEN 1 Rear Door Lock Issue

I've been having an interment issue with my passenger side rear door lock sticking. Every once and a while only that door won't unlock using the power buttons but if i pull on it, it'll unlock and then work smoothly. It takes quite a bit of force to unlock it, but once its unlocked it cycles with no issues. It seems to be random when it decides to stick and I can't inspect the mechanism when it does stick because the door is closed and the panel is on. if i unlock it by hand and pull the panel, everything is working as it should so i can't see whats causing it to stick. I guess i could just pull the door panel off or a few days and wait for it to stick and see if i can see what the issue is, but i think it'll still be tough to examine the mechanism with the door closed. Anyone have this issue and find what was causing it?

you need a new actuator. i have dealt with this a few times now. i have tried lubing it but doesnt work. its a pain to replace, but its the only way to fix it

It's your door actuator. I've had to replace two, and it looks like one more is occasionally doing it now. It's not a tough job to pull off in your driveway, but it's definitely the door actuator. My only door that hasn't done this is my driver door.

@Dane Are the rear actuators the same part number L & R or are the side specific?

they are position specific. its an entire assembly, that gets replaced. the actuator is built into the latch

Every door is specific.

I guess it's a good thing it sticks locked and not in the unlocked position!

Yeah…. its been stuck unlocked one time for me unfortunately. Hasn’t done it like that again thankfully. It’s strange itll stick locked then go an hour to a month or so being fine lol.
