One other thing that i noticed while looking is that the intake seems to be really restricted by the hood. I used some black chalk on the intake and can see where its contacting the hood. Looks like dang near half the intake is blocked by the hood...

if you look at the holes in the panel above the grill, you'll see that most of the air comes from the grill...

After seeing this thread I ordered the part, just checked my 11/21 build and it already has the updated part. Anyone need the part? Will ship it.

With all the turbo failure things I've been seeing, I ended up ordering the new cowl but it looks identical - so might just hack it up to mimc the new version. Does anyone have a part number for the new push pins? Tried ordering some generic on Amazon but did not work.

All of the parts are in the 1st post. It’s an attached TSB.

There seems to be an aftermarket of lntake scoops. May help as they look more rigid but I’m going to look a bit more into before buying something aftermarket.

i went ahead and ordered one of these and opened up the trim piece like @Antho. while my fasteners haven't popped off, theyve gotten loose and i cant believe how floppy the stock intake scoop is. i could totally see the front compressing under heavy load. will report back on what the AFE intake is like.

Ended up ordering a generic pack of 27 different type of fasteners from Amazon, only one seems to work fine but is slightly smaller than I would like.

If anyone finds a better clip or the ford one please post.

So I received the afe part today and initial impressions are that it is a lot sturdier. The fasteners seem to be the same design as stock, but the location where they attached to the intake tube are solid as opposed to flexible like stock. Zero play with the fasteners installed. Will be interested to see if the intake noise is any different.
