Going over bumps and potholes i hear a clunky type of rattle. I think this thing is the culprit. Its a slab of metal attached with a rubber bushing to a cast iron bracket. It is crazy loose too. The bushing seems to be really worn out. Is it some weird mass damper? Can i get rid of it?843AA805-E647-4DEF-BC0D-157AEA83460E.jpeg

Do not get rid of it. Ford put it there for a reason so I would take it to a dealer to have them check it out. If the bushing looks worn out you should replace it.

Zip tie it tight to the bracket and see if noise goes away. If so then remove it. If the ass end starts hoping around on the highway put it back on and take to dealer. Just my .02. My 18 doesn't have that part, I don't think.

What year is your truck? What leaf pack do you have on it?

I have a '19 with Icons and it clunks on low-speed articulation. Sounds similar to your problem. The clunk started around 45k miles. I don't have the harmonic balancer.
I changed the shocks, noise is still present. Changing the front bushings and rear shackles (RPG) this week. Hopefully, these will get rid of infuriating clunk noise.

If they work, I'll let you know.
Good luck with fixing the clunk.

At least that one seems more out in the open, the one on my gen 1 was a little harder to remove lol. Of course we were taking it off in a hurry

Not sure what leaf pack. Its stock. Does the clunky more noticeably over low speed bumps. I have about 46k miles. the rear suspension is super squeaky when I go up and around my driveway. Keep us posted if your bushing and shackle fix solves it. Gonna go throw a few zip ties on this thing as suggested and maybe stuff a towel on top too.
