I haven't read hundreds of posts on the subject but the ones I have seem to point to JDM as being the tuner of choice. I don't know that I need the tune but several people have suggested it as a must have for longevity. I ran into two different areas that gave me pause as I researched it. One the order form and two the price. I bought my truck used and have no idea what the previous owners have changed on the truck and the requested list of existing components was daunting. Second the price of $1300.00 plus was a little staggering. My question is for me as an older person who only romps on it every once in while, is this something I need or something I may just want?

Wow... $1300 is steep.
When I did mine I think it was $370 for the SCT X4 and 300 for the tune.

Do you have to have it... No.
Just understand that the Roush tune cuts a bunch of corners when it comes to trans and fuel trims. Like mentioned before Roush just plunks the blower on top of a stock 6.2 and adds fuel to the tune to keep it from blowing up..lol
They do not adjust the trans shift strategy or pull timing or change plug heat range.

If JDM is really $1300 for a tune now, I would be looking for a tuner that can create you a custom tune for your truck on a dyno for that kind of money. Just do your homework on what the tuner is good at. The 6.2 is not as easy to get right as an LS or even a Coyote. The software took a huge leap forward I believe in 2015 so we are kinda limited.

My 14 roush was pretty sluggish before I got the JDM tune. I'm happy with it no issues thus far. Def utilizes the roush charger as it should be, but you're not going to win any races.
I don't remember spending $1300. I thought it was like $800 with the tuner. I would love to get the pulley and upgraded cooler.
Hope that helps.

From another "Older Person" (I'm 73) the JDM tune really woke up my 13 Roush. Much better shifting and overall drivability. I really think JDM has the most experience with our trucks and I've been using them since I had my 02 Harley Davidson supercharged F150. Do you HAVE to have it, no. Will you see a difference, YES.

I have the JDM 700HP tune on my 2014 Roush. It cost 1700 for the tune and all the parts a couple years ago. Colder range plugs, smaller pulley, bigger throttle body, smaller belt and tune/tuner. Night and day difference with the transmission shifting and overall drivability. Before the truck seemed sluggish and bounced around gears like it didn’t know which one to shift into. I’ve had my tune on for over 20k miles and no issues. Good luck!

Now they're asking $485 for the tune and $795 for the install tool. I'm not sure what the increase is for since the tune has already been built and the install tool is almost a decade old. I guess it's a case of "they can so they did." Thanks for the help.

I can’t find $1300 on their site. A custom tune and tuner (for supercharged raptor) is $895 which is what I paid this past winter.
