It will say "special order" on the bottom of the window sticker if it was specifically ordered for a customer (retail).

Thanks, I see that on a picture someone posted of their sticker now. However, my dealer has some incoming that, to my understanding, were ordered as retail orders and they don’t have the “special order” on the electronic window sticker. Is it only the physical window sticker that has it or the electronic one would too? Sorry for all the questions but hoping to eliminate contacting any dealers that only have units that are already sold.

They both have it. Its possible they converted stock orders to retail orders. The sticker would not show the "Special Order" if it was converted.

I’ve been searching online inventory and one question I have is if there is any way to tell from the window sticker if it is a retail (customer specific) or stock order?
If you find somethinf that you think youd be interested in, id call about it. You never know when someone cancelled their order and its worth the call just to see

I just pre-ordered a Rivian R1T. Doing that without talking to a dealer is just great :D
I'm getting very tempted to do this as well. I bet the minute you sent that deposit off you received an email from them saying thank you and confirming the order and probably more. My guess is you'll get constant updates as well.

I have also contemplated ordering an R1T. I have an order for a CyberTruck but the Gen 4 Raptor will be out first… my fears with Rivian is obviously new… not a strong network for repairs or chargers… price is subject to change & new company. Love Ford and Ford backed them so there are a few positives.
BTW still unscheduled clean as of this morning.

I paid 1k refundable deposit and got the confirmation. I installed the Rivian App to track the order/build/delivery once it's scheduled.
Unfortunately, there is also no commitment to a delivery date yet. Customer service replied quickly but all they said is that production starts January 2022.

Since Rivian is still kind of a startup, we'll have to be patient.. But I'm just so sick of dealing with the stealerships that I can live the with the ugly R1T front and the uncertainty of buying from a new player now.. :)

Thanks for that info. It sure beats the Ford/dealership process of: submit an order to an uninformed dealer that doesn't match Ford's own web site order tool, then beg for your order confirmation and the dealers number so when you want an update you have to call Ford Perf yourself as your dealer is clueless. And the best you ever hear from Ford is 2nd hand stating "it should get built" from some regional Ford rep that you've never met. Very frustrating!

Rivian is a start up (backed by Amazon & Ford), but they are doing everything right and the reviews that just came out are amazing. And for service; well they send a sprinter van to you to complete any service needed. No trips to the dealer. Tempting!

If my unscheduled/clean order from mid- June doesn't get picked up for a '21 build this may be the way to go. I'd probably see the R1T in my driveway before a '22 Raptor. And I'd at least be able to be (or just feel) more informed than I do with Ford. I have to search forums for updates on my Raptor order.

Just called and spoke with Chris at FP. My order (Added: 801a, Toughbed | Deleted: Moonroof and Graphics) which was placed on July 7th (Priority 19) is still "unscheduled clean".
