GEN 1 RCV Performance Axles

Hi,

I am currently in the market for an aftermarket set of axles for my 13' Raptor. My truck is stock besides some cosmetic stuff.

I saw some previous posts in regards to aftermarket axles for raptors and that there are only a couple of options, Yukon and Currie. Which the Yukon axles are not exactly "stronger" than OEM and the Currie axles are free-floating and out of my price range. I did some browsing and found RCV Performance, they have a set of performance axles that fits a stock raptor. Here's the link. Does anyone have any knowledge in regards to this company, quality, etc?

Any tips, advice, or feedback is greatly appreciated.

Hi there, well I didn't use/install the RCV axles, however, I did install the RCV IWE Eliminator (which replaces the OEM IWE).
IMO, the main problem is with the IWE functionality, as it is a vacuum type of hub, therefore, I replaced it, and didn't have any problem with axles since then (14months and running).

Last month I busted my driver-side Stock Axles, I caused it by engaging the 4WD while driving and steering fully locked to the left side. I know, my mistake and it was a very silly one, but yeah all good since then.

The RCV Eliminators still looking good and in shape, with no problems to them at all.

Maybe someone else has installed and used them, might be a good review for me too.

Thank you for telling me this, that is something I did not know.

i have rcv on 2 of my vehicles, not a gen 1, they are hit or miss. stronger then stock for sure.
but i went through through 3 sets on my 4runner, city driving, and first set broke internally, second set came back super noisy-grinding noises, 3rd set is ok. this was all in the span of less then 8 months.

rcv on my gen 2. somewhat noisy, but bearable, they are about a month old.

If your truck is stock why would you need aftermarket CV axles for thousands of dollars? Sure they’re stronger than stock but with a stock truck you probably won’t even be driving it hard enough on dirt to really want them. Autozone ones are $100 and they’ll replace them for free every time they break. The main reason people go with RCV axles is to get wider ones to fit a long travel kit. The CV axles take like 45 minutes per side to replace. I’ve got a bed cage with 3.0’s and drive the truck pretty damn hard and still haven’t broken a CV axle. If I do, who cares, I’ll just throw it in 2wd and have autozone overnight me a new one.

Currie and Yukon rear ends aren’t even remotely similar. The Currie is a fully fabricated full floater rear end and what Yukon markets for these trucks is just stock replacement axle shafts that really aren’t much better than stock.

Yukon Gear does offer front replacement CVs.
