GEN 2 Car Wash

Am I the only one mental enough that I think of this super cool song every time I see the "Car Wash" title pop up in the recent threads?

i went halfway through a regular car wash, when the guy stopped it and told me to drive straight through, its not going to work! running 0 offset wheels, so i'm a bit wider then a regular raptor also. No problems with touchless, just haven't found one that worked well around here.

Hand wash forever and use the car wash sprayer for removing the winter road crap in PA. Never used the automatic car wash on the Raptor.

Never go through a car wash. Sure it’s a truck, but a very expensive one at that. Don’t unnecessarily abuse it.

I had a TRD PRO Taco I had at AAOA. I had my garage prepped for it on the way back, but was feeling lazy after a 4 hour drive.

I hit a local car wash against my better judgement. Let’s just say it took several days of work with a DA buffer to remove all of the scratches the car wash put in the clear coat. Not worth it

Same. These central PA roads are brutal in the winter.

I use those front bumper openings all the time. Washing and oil changes. Guess I'm headed to a 30 page useless thread about warranty denied bumper damage. lol

Got a touchless wash here that the wife drives thru once in a while. Truck fits and it does a good job. Some days even with the heated driveway on and the water heater turned up to 165 I'm sliding on ice and have water freezing on the truck before i can dry it off.

In the summer I hand wash it in my driveway.
In the winter sometimes I use the high pressure wand in the DIY bay to blast the salt and crap off and sometimes I use the automatic touchless car wash. I wouldn't use the old style automatic wash with the brushes.

I have never heard of a heated driveway, but now I’m intrigued...

I assume it must be done from scratch prior to paving, or is it like a heated tile floor?

I get my driveway plowed, but it would in theory be really nice if the snow just melted as it fell.

That's what it does. You run a Plex something or other tubing. Glycol thru a boiler. Tubing is put in 3" concrete. Then I have a layer of sand and pavers on top. Garage is heated same way on the same system. I went cheap and use manual manifolds to turn on the driveway. So, the driveway only runs part time because the thermostat is in the garage. You can go all electronic and use sensors outside to run it but then the gas bill and install costs go way up. They're not hard to do. Did the garage when we built the house. I left two capped tubes ready for the driveway. Couple years later when we did the driveway they wanted 6-7K to do it(just the heated part). I spent about 1K on the tubing and such. Two afternoons after I got home from work.
