Tonneau covers with roof top tent?

Had a Thule roof rack on the 4 runner but I just ordered an rci bedrack. I haven't decided if I will keep the retrax on or just take it off permanently.

I also like the rtt for road trip camping, we mostly backpack so it doesn't get a crazy amount of use but it was an unopened return at the REI garage sale so I am happy to have it

If you're wanting to keep your BakFlip, you'll probably have to go with the KB Voodoo crossbars. I have only seen pictures online so I can't give much feedback on how well it all works together.

I'm running a RetraxPro XR which has t-slots in the rails of the tonneau cover for legs/crossbars, with a bed rack from FrontRunner and a CVT roof top tent. I like that it doesn't sit super high and I can easily get into my bed with the rolling tonneau cover. The rack/legs aren't the easiest to take on/off with the way FrontRunner designed it, so I usually just pull off the tent using a lift I installed on the ceiling of my garage.

The only reason I like the idea of keeping the tonneau cover on is security. I can still lock items in the bed.
But I'm also toying with the idea of taking the cover off during the trip. It folds up real nice, and tow pins it's out.

The retrax Pro XR is a great option as two24 mentioned-lots of options with the track system.

Do you have any pics of the bike rack set up? Looking into RTT as well but can't decide between just a crossbar setup or full blown RCI 12 inch rack. Trying to figure out if I could fit two MTBs in the bed with a tailgate pad and if 12 inches would be enough height to keep the bikes in the bed with a RTT.

@Leftsidej been out of town for work. Will be home this weekend and I’ll swing by the shop and take some pictures. I have 2 Thule UpRide racks on the passenger side nested together. Went with the crossbars because it was the only thing with enough width for 2 racks plus the tent.

Didn't like the looks or the cost of the commercial racks, so fabricating my own.
Will post pics when completed.

I just finished my RTT build on Monday with a KB Voodoo 14” aluminum Max Modular rack, Retrax XR tonneau cover with T-slot grooves, and CVT Shasta hybrid tent. Voodoo makes an adapter to put the rack on the T-slots, but I did redo the drill sites on them to make them flush with the tonneau rail edges for a cleaner look. The tonneau opens easily, and the tent, even though it’s soft shell, has an extra rack on top of it. I also have the Icon springs in place to prevent any sag with the extra weight. Great setup!

Finally got my rack completed and went camping this weekend.
Worked great! Now I need to mount my awning...
