Here’s another example of how light a tint can be on tails w/ body shop doing it, not a raptor but you get the idea, the side marker is factory, the tails are led but were just as bright red as the side marker until tinted/cleared (& no- there aren’t any scratches above that side marker it’s just some messed up reflection off my toolbox lol)

Smoked = Permanent.
New Taillights(Recon, etc) = $$$$
Tint = cheapest and temporary

I am always trying to avoid anything that is permanent. I called a dozen places in Los Angeles to tint the taillights. I only found one....even then they called Luxe Automotive in UT to make sure it was done right. Luxe has done it on multiple Raptors. They use STEK "light film" it only comes in light or dark, the only catch with the film is you will have a couple seems. I can't even tell where they are when I am close to it. It turned out great

badgertits, that's the exact shade of smoke I'm looking to do. Subtle and won't get me a ticket or problems with inspections.

@BSP10 Looks a bit familiar... ;) That the Recon 3rd you have there? Debating between that and smoke filming mine. The stock white 3rd brake sticks out like a tranny at a wet t-shirt contest.

I like your style!

And I agree. once I noticed it, it stuck out so much I had to do something about it. I like the light set up on the Recon. and Pricing wise it wasn't horrible. not cheap, but not horrible. The only thing you will have to do is get a little rustoleum and hit the screws with black.

I am actually have a GJ coming as well. I really like the bajas but you lose the all blacked out look, I am not sure if I am going go keep my recon or sell it. It is about 2 months old. if I end up selling it I will let you know if you are interested.

How's the brightness? I'm assuming you can see the brake light fine - the cargo lights just as bright? LED too, correct? Easy swap? Sorry to interrogate you.

It is just as bright, if not brighter on both. and it couldn't be easier. unscrew, unplug the old, plug in the new(its one harness that just clicks in, no wiring or anything on your part), and screw back in. literally plug and play. seemless.

Yes, that damn 3rd brake light bothers me too! I don't like any of the White or Chrome on my Raptor......the RIGID cubes are the exception....;)

Great! Thanks for the info! Haven't experienced any water intrusion or anything - not necessarily within the housing but, like behind it into the roof/cab?
