Because I wanted more range than a few hundred feet to remote start the Raptor, and also receive 2-way confirmation for both remote start and security zones when the vehicle is not in view, I installed a Viper security and remote start system. The alarm and additional features all make it worth it, the remote start just triggers the factory remote start so no wiring there.
With the additional channels, there are lots of upgrades in addition to the factory tailgate release button.
Some are:
-Auto window roll up
-Auto close rear slider
-Crack windows
-Crack rear-slider
-Open windows
-Open rear-slider
-Open multiple garage doors
-Arm and disarm home security system
-Engine kill
-Ect.
But I did not want to carry 2 Fobs so I merged the factory fob into the Viper LCD fob, and it is actually now a smaller fob then the factory fob, so win win! I just had to 3-D print a 1/8" taller rear Viper case to accomidate the additional Ford proximity chip. It is wired into the Viper's rechargable battery so no need to replace batteries on the Fob.
