Because I wanted more range than a few hundred feet to remote start the Raptor, and also receive 2-way confirmation for both remote start and security zones when the vehicle is not in view, I installed a Viper security and remote start system. The alarm and additional features all make it worth it, the remote start just triggers the factory remote start so no wiring there.

With the additional channels, there are lots of upgrades in addition to the factory tailgate release button.

Some are:
-Auto window roll up
-Auto close rear slider
-Crack windows
-Crack rear-slider
-Open windows
-Open rear-slider
-Open multiple garage doors
-Arm and disarm home security system
-Engine kill
-Ect.

But I did not want to carry 2 Fobs so I merged the factory fob into the Viper LCD fob, and it is actually now a smaller fob then the factory fob, so win win! I just had to 3-D print a 1/8" taller rear Viper case to accomidate the additional Ford proximity chip. It is wired into the Viper's rechargable battery so no need to replace batteries on the Fob.

Those are some nice features. I especially like the crack open the windows, for a hot day.

Hopefully it never malfunctions. I never gave that a thought until we had a brand new G35 Coupe that my ex really wanted, and the auto open function activated itself while it was parked at our store. It happened right before a heavy thunderstorm hit. A customer came in, in the middle of the downpour, and asked us why we had all the windows down and the sunroof open in the rain!

The dealer told us, "It happens sometimes" when it went back for the repair. Surprisingly, nothing got ruined from the rain. I dried it as quick as I could with towels and all the electronics were fine.

Yeah, my ex gf, hit the wrong button on her bmw remote and all the windows went down while she went shopping, but she said the car was still locked and nobody could get in.

I know I about shit my pants when the customer came in and said it was wide open, it was still locked like you said. Freaking thing sure was wet though. The dealer said it wasn't her fault, some kind of malfunction. They replaced the BCM and the fob. After a certain amount of time, it would activate on it's own.

I have had the Viper window system on all my vehicles since 2000 and have never had it go down unexpectedly. With the security system I have the motion sensor set to be very sensitive. If any rain did set off the alarm the windows would also roll up automatically, if it triggered an alarm state. I think the heat on a hot day would eventually do more harm (with unvented windows) than a 1 time rain, and from what I hear on the forum, the Raptor leaks water stock anyway, lol.

the viper system requires a push and hold to activate the aux.

you should also think about getting the smart start for it

The Viper smart start would be nice, however I dont like the thought of a monthly payment when I already have Ford Pass for free. It is hooked up to Ford Pass, so I can start it and if the alarm goes off I get notified and can arm/disarm that way. Oh and I also rewired the system so I can use Ford Pass to remotely kill the engine in the event it was somehow stolen.

Woah! Let us back up a bit. I think we all want to know what type of store you operate. :D
