What bugs me about this guy's videos is that he *IS* an idiot.

If he bought a Raptor and a TRX and tested them to destruction, it'd be one thing (still not my thing, but I can understand).

The design of the jump, landing, filling the bed with spare wheels/tires, not wearing a helmet...he's basically just performed manned crash tests into a wall.

He's going to kill himself or one of his associates if he continues/escalates his level of idiocy.
My thoughts exactly.

If you guys could not only get paid to abuse your Ford Raptor, you could make an *extremely* good living by abusing your Raptor, you’re saying you wouldn’t do it?
I don't what he does to his own property it I think he already had $$$ before he started trashing them. His main source of income came from his parents or something.

What I got from his video was you can jump the Raptor...outside of it's intended envelope... and come out basically unscathed.
You can jump your TRX outside the intended envelope and it's totaled. I'd love to see Fiat run their TRX through the Baja 1000 then drive it home as Ford did with the Raptor. Now that would be a video worth watching.

Yeah, not only is it the views that gets people money on YouTube, it is the length of time the video is and how many "watched minutes" the video accumulated. You could have 1m views and make $10 or $50k depending on the length of those watched minutes. Autovlog on YouTube breaks down his channel and how much he earns per video and it's crazy when you have 2 comparable viewed videos, yet one has more watched minutes and the numbers climb.

I had no idea. Then he's probably even more profitable than I assumed. The types of videos he produces seem to be a train wreck that you can't stop watching, so I bet he gets very high numbers of "viewed minutes." I know I watch the whole thing.

To calculate streetspeed717’s net worth, must first take a look at his monthly revenue

  • $30,000: YouTube. I remember several years ago when Mike made a video where he revealed that he was earning $50,000 a month of ad revenue from YouTube. That was back when he was getting over 300,000 views (on average) per video – which is about 30 to 40% higher than his average views now. His channel is definitely suffered quite a bit over the past couple years, no doubt due to all of the annoying clickbait he uses in his video titles. He’s definitely turned a lot long-time viewers away – including me. Anyway, I still estimate his monthly earnings to be at least $30,000 from ad revenue alone based on the views he gets. Very impressive indeed, though not quite at the levels where he was just a few years ago.
  • $10,000: merchandise sales. Mike is one of the more aggressive automotive YouTubers when it comes to pushing his own merchandise on his viewers. The profit he makes from this side business is definitely a significant portion of the treetspeed717 net worth! Although it’s hard to guess with any amount of accuracy as to what his profits are on the merchandise line every month, I assume that it’s at least $10,000 considering how much time and energy he puts into creating new products and advertising them on his channel.
In regards to monthly revenue, I do find it interesting that Mike doesn’t do very many sponsored videos. Compared to other popular YouTubers such as TJ hunt and Cleetus McFarland, he seems to be avoiding this highly-lucrative revenue stream.

Making money with his channel through ad revenue and product placement is shortsighted in my opinion, especially when we’ve seen such a large drop off in his viewership numbers over the past two years or so. He definitely needs to diversify!

Having an event, or selling a product or service at a loss, for the purpose of bringing in future customers is a well know business practice in almost any industry.

Right, I don't know how so many people seem confused by this. He's converting hard goods into a profitable career.

I don't what he does to his own property it I think he already had $$$ before he started trashing them. His main source of income came from his parents or something.

What are we basing that off of? Everything I read says he has a finance degree and works as a financial adviser as well as being a YTer.

It is just wrong, whatever the business case justification.

Why is it any more wrong than a farmer using up a truck in order to earn a living? Some years I put 40k miles on my company car--am I wrong for treating it like a tool, wearing it out, and having my company buy me a new one?

Ha, that’s great! Watching it now.

For those that are upset with Mike Hyssong (Streetspeed717), I’m wondering if you dislike professional auto racing. After all, they’re beating up expensive cars in order to make money and gain TV viewers.

I like professional auto racing.

But I'm not happy when they crash. I'm bummed those people can't complete the race and might be hurt.

I'm well aware I do not represent the entirety of the market though.
