That will get a huge number of clicks ...
Yup. News stopped being news when the internet allowed companies to measure viewer interest accurately using clicks. Now each outlet panders to a narrow base. Because facts are boring and the base wants excitement, the "news" media more resembles daytime soap opera or the National Enquirer than it does the media of the last century. But lots of viewers haven't realized what happened and trust what they see. If the news media did car reviews, this guy would be a star.
Decided to do the math because I am skeptical that destroying a $93k truck would be profitable for a few million views.
Previous commenter said 1M views translates to roughly $10k. I will assume that as fact. I have no idea.
I totaled all the views he has received to date from all his TRX videos from the first one where he bought it to the current one. As of 1-25-21 he has a total across all videos of 3.7M views. So that translates to roughly $37k. So given that he's only been at this a couple weeks...I'll be honest...it may be more profitable than I thought. I assume in another couple months those numbers will be tripled and he will have released several more videos and he'll be in the black (not counting his time or other consumables).

He completely totaled that truck, lit it on fire in his latest video lol. There was no control for the test, he hit the ramp a lot faster and started the drive 100 feet further back, the conditions were no the same either i.e. a dry sunny day for the Raptor and a muddy day for the TRX. The TRX is going to be taken to and beyond its limits, I hope FCA sure reinforced those frames

Yeah, not only is it the views that gets people money on YouTube, it is the length of time the video is and how many "watched minutes" the video accumulated. You could have 1m views and make $10 or $50k depending on the length of those watched minutes. Autovlog on YouTube breaks down his channel and how much he earns per video and it's crazy when you have 2 comparable viewed videos, yet one has more watched minutes and the numbers climb.
Interesting. I wondered why he wasted 20 minutes yapping when the interesting part lasted a few seconds. It's hard to imagine anyone with the patience to watch the whole thing instead of skipping ahead, watching the jump, and then leaving early.

Abusing your wife and abusing an inanimate object that you happen to own are two utterly, completely different things. Not saying you have to like truck abuse, but the comparison makes no sense whatsoever.

You also have to factor in that this video did wonders to advertise for his channel. Many people who didn't know his channel exists, now do since it's been talk about on every truck website and forum. How many of those views were first time views that will subscribe and watch other videos this guy creates.

Having an event, or selling a product or service at a loss, for the purpose of bringing in future customers is a well know business practice in almost any industry.
