Well apparently these plastic $1.88 caps are a hot commodity.

I discovered that someone... Some idiot. Decided to remove it. Permanently.

Upon closer inspection. They had actually used plyers and removed the antenna mast. Prayed off the cap. And half threaded my antenna back on.

I guess they were classy enough to not take my entire antenna. But they did f it up with the plyers.

This is apparently a Raptor only part. And they either get stolen alot or magically go missing. While tracking down this part online I did come across others that had the same loss.

So this is a heads up.

Shipping was five times the price of the part.
Not to mention the cosmetics damage to the antenna.

That’s really bizarre. Of all the parts on my truck I fear getting stolen, not sure that one makes the top 500.
So what happens to someone’s antenna base that they need to replace the original anyway???

As I said on another popular post on the same subject, I observed mine float right up the antenna at highway speed and disappear!!

Dealer replaced mine without issue. It appears to be a common issue.

The thief was most likely replacing their missing piece. I hate freak'n thieves.

Those concerned might want to fill the void under the piece with some clear silicone. I've found my new one has remained put.

Good luck.

Are you sure the antenna mast wasn’t already like that?

I ask because this part is notorious for coming loose, then dancing its way up the antenna. Mine has been as high as within a foot of clearing the antenna before I noticed and could stop. It’s happened to me at least half a dozen times within the last couple of years.

good to know they’re easily replaced and relatively cheap.

Yeah, mine has worked loose a couple of times too. I finally got it to snap on there pretty solid last time it happened. If it happens again I'm going to gorilla glue it on there though.
