Makes you wonder if we have achieved the pinnacle of combustion engine technology. Most of the old and new race car technology is now in our pick-up trucks. Whats next? I purchased a new 1990 Infiniti Q45 and at the time it had variable valve timing which was fascinating then, now it's nothing.

Guy, Thanks for posting, much appreciated, you received my like.

If anyone is interest in how their EciBoost works, not just a simple answer, this is the article to read. Describes how an EcoBoost works in simple terms including, some trouble symptoms, reasons for failures, things that might appear bad but are not and fixes.

Just reading the article, I could see possible answers to several previous posts I have read.

It’s a primer for those who maybe don’t know all of the nuances.


Turbo 101....very turbo charged car from 1985 up works the same way. Injection systems and mapping are the only difference.
