Definitely try a new quality cable, latest iOS and Sync, and clean out the charging port on your phone to ensure a good connection to the cable

I have had multiple problems with CarPlay on and off in my 2019 Gen 2. Seems to happen most frequently when I plug the cable into my iPhone while at home and truck is connected to my home WiFi. If I wait until I am driving down the street and out of range of my home WiFi, and then plug in, it works fine. If I forget and plug it in before pulling out of driveway, or if it just randomly glitches, then I just reboot the display (Hold volume button and the forward select button (right arrow button together) until the screen goes black and then let go). The audio system will reboot and all will be fine. When I asked my service advisor about it, he said not to do any updates, as he says the updates often cause problems in his truck, and he also said to avoid plugging in two devices at the same time. I can’t speak to the last two pointers, but I can tell you the “rebooting” the system ALWAYS works (at least for me). A reboot takes about 15-20 seconds.

Hope this helps some of you.

I gave up trying to use carplay after a week. From freezing up to crashing the app it was running it's just not worth the hassle.

Pee'd off that Ford took out the 12v charge in the center cubby as I can't use the USB to charge without the sync auto connecting to your phone which I don't want it to do. I just use bluetooth. So I'll need to add a 12v socket back in there at some point or a powered only USB port.
