They both have great qualities, just different. I have ridden in gen 2 raptors, owned a tuned gen 1 ecoboost (FX4), and driven a tuned gen 2 ecoboost (lariat sport).

They are fast as can be. The 2015 and up trucks do feel different, smoother and a little less truck-ish, if that makes any sense.

Having said all of that I love my gen 1 (raptor). It can be fast, especially if manual shifting and putting it right around 3500-4000 rpms and then getting after it. Wont be a gen 2 raptor in a race though lol.

I’ll be keeping my gen 1 but I really like the gen 2, and I am interested in seeing what the gen 3 brings to the table.

Gen 1 Raptors are a modern day classic. Those will be the collector's relics someday.
