Other day I was driving my truck around aggressively in 4A sport mode & it was drizzling a little bit - got out of truck to go into gas station for a drink etc before getting on highway & as you’re aware every time you shut truck off the 4x4 system will retain whatever setting you had it in, but defaults back to “normal” drive mode.

so when I got back in & started up switched it back to sport mode which put it back in 2H so I THOUGHT I threw it in 4A but instead was in 4H & I also turn TC off- I drove on highway & drizzle pretty much stops & basically dry- had the truck up to 90mph hauling ass back home got off highway make 2 fairly wide turns but then a 3rd turn @ slow speed felt off I immediately looked down & realized I had it in 4H & stopped & switched to 2H midway through the turn.

seemed to just seamlessly transition Back & didn’t feel any bad grinding or binding- just that first unwilling to turn easily tug on the wheel.

Bottom line, I wish the truck would maintain the 4x4 in whatever mode ya put it in going between Sport & normal....it’s very odd that itd retain the previous 4x4 selected - which could damage the truck if you forgot & conditions changed- but defaults to “normal” drive mode despite the fact some drive modes automatically put it in 4A or 4H

Hi smurfy

Here's the funny bit

Going through the twisty bits on 4A was fine.

We reached
Unloaded our bikes and buggies and played around.
Four hours later, loaded everything back and within two minutes of the twisted got the warning.

I imagine I'd have gotten the warning while driving into the twisties - when I was already driving on flats for two hours and then entered the twisties.
Meaning the raptor was tired and heated up.

Not to get the message after the raptor was off for a solid four hours.

And upon returning, I was driving conservatively as I did on the way.

I wasn't smashing it on the way back.

My tow setup looks okay to me.
Here's a photograph.

I'm pretty sure we covered your tow setup in the past.

The rear is sagging, you have too much tongue weight, your side by side is too far forward by about a foot or so.

Did you get your leaf springs replaced yet? You are in an OVERLOAD condition.

revisiting this topic, today i launched my truck from a stand still in 4a with traction control off (one click, not a hold click), and completed the pass. i got the 4x4 locked message and it went in to 4h. Was worried about it putting me in 4h while im doing a full acceleration pass up to about 70mph. Should i be worried ?

I wouldn't think it harmful; the hubs are already engaged in 4a and the truck is pretty diligent about preventing transfer case changes that would be harmful. I would imagine the varying application of torque to the front wheels probably generates a good deal of heat, where just locking into 4H would not.
