If you coming into Cali, we do not recognize CCW from other states. You just can't CCW in Cali unless you're a LEO.

Great ideas. We are heading south (Arizona), so hoping the weather gets progressively better as we go.
I'm considering a similar road trip from the Quad Cities, IA area down to San Diego and Phoenix in a couple months. That'll be a great trip for you!

All good discussion.
In addition to First Aid, I'd add a couple of blow out kits - or trauma kits. One for your pack and one you can reach easy.

Dashcam for some peace of mind to accidents and other features when parked etc.

2 quarts of oil. One to top up. One to keep unopened.

Hitchcock or beaver step etc. for misc idiots parking close behind you or bumping the back of you. Also can work with a tow strap. Legal many places when not towing, but some places not, I think.

Portable compressor, tire repair kit. You can make the call if it is worth changing or repairing where it sits. Viair 88 for compactness, bigger for offroad airing up on the regular.

Enjoy the trip! I've taken a few trips with the fam in the rap and it is an effortless travel platform. We took some offroad shortcuts to break up the drive. Didn't take much to spice it up vs the freeway/highway miles.

About to embark on a 3,000+ mile family road trip, and we will be taking my Raptor due to the amount of crap we need to bring (3 kids, wife, bikes, etc). I want to make sure I'm prepared for any on-road happenings, so looking to hear what others bring with in terms of tools, emergency items, etc. Truck will be getting an oil change before we leave, as well as an inspection with my local Ford dealership.

So far, my plans are to:
1. Make sure I have a firm understanding of how to replace a flat with the onboard spare. This will be tricky as the back seat needs to fold down, which is where I will have three car seats...
2. Have enough tools to fix any potential minor issues, as well as my M18 impact gun w/impact socket to make quick work of lug nuts.
3. Pack a roadside emergency kit, as well as a first-aid kit.
4. Ensure insurance cards are up-to-date.
5. Pick-up a radar detector (not breakdown related, but more so "heavy foot" related). Also review different states laws on said detector...

Take your jack out from behind the seat and put it in the bed of your truck so you don't have to worry about the kid seats.
Not sure of your oil consumption but maybe bring an extra quart?

Take the jack from under your seat and throw it away. Purchase a high lift jack and an impact wrench (with spare battery and proper sockets) and install in bed of truck. Will make short work of any flat (you will thank me later ;)). As mentioned before, First Aid kit, spare tools, all spare fluids (brake, transmission, oil, radiator, and water).

Lots of things to entertain your kids, ie...food, snacks, drinks, portable DVD players, Game Boy (and/or other games), separate sources of music, all with headphones.

I would see if you can get Raptor owners names and phone numbers along your trip, in case (God forbid) you run into issues. Lots of excellent people on this site that I think you could count on for help.

MHO.
