All,
I bought four big chains for the tires and (in the mud) found they wouldn’t fit on the front tires between the control arm and tire. Thankfully they fit on the back and got me out.

I really need advice on what will work on the front tires? Who has put chains on the front? Would cables be better? Any pictures?

Looks like Ford says you can’t put chains on the front. Not much help there. D7C4EE82-C2AD-4436-9145-0D966AE47E2B.jpeg

sorry about the double post all

I haven't put chains on the front because you're not supposed to.

Hope this helps

What type of chains did you try? Any pictures of the interference? I have 4 high quality cam-lock chains and felt better by having them but never test-fitted them. Better break them out and try...

I would also experiment with how to put them on, instead of trying to learn when you are already stuck somewhere. I know the old ones were a bitch to install, I don't know if they've changed. Haven't used chains in many years, like since radial tires came out.

Good point. You could 'tension' too much chain to the rear and not enough to the front. Learning when stuck is never good. I will try to avoid that as I have had the Raptor and the chains for over a year now and have never test-fit them. Shame on me.

this is what they look like after washing in a creek for an hour , normal thick chains. I was thinking of cables but very little clearance even for cables. There are these new ratchet ******** chains that only have a heavy nylon ******** the inside of the tire but no one makes them big enough for the 315-70/R17’s that are on the truck so will have to see if I can make the strap longer.

Aside from a wheel with a lower backspacing it might be tough to have clearance in between the tire and UCA. The 6" backspace from the OEM wheels does not leave much room for anything.
