Guess they were not as reputable a vendor as you hoped, sorry to hear that.

I'd recommend try hooking it up to a battery. Your bench power supply might not have enough amperage to power it. We have a few at our shop. One of them won't even power up an HID kit, whereas the other powers up anything. However I can't REALLY power up a 50" bar with either, it just can't produce enough power.

A 54" RDS bar pulls some serious amperage... 29.35amps. That's a lot of amperage for a bench power supply. Most bench power supplies max out at 10AMPs unless you have a REALLY powerful one.
Thank you. I agree. I did eventually hook the light bar straight to the 12 V battery in my truck with it running which measured at 13.65 V. When that didn't work I wanna head and use the wiring kit suppliedAnd hooked it directly to my battery as well with no luck.

Do you mind if I ask where you bought this bar from? If you have the shipping label, maybe PM me where it came from. Did the packaging look like it's been around the block a few times ? There is a big problem right now with some of these fly by night dealers selling on Amazon. Where they sell on amazon, customer returns a product (after breaking it or swapping it out), and then that "dealer" just sends it back to the distributor. The distributor then just sticks it back on the shelf for the next guy to order from.

Whenever we do a return, we take the item back and fully test it before issuing any credits. BUT we're a stocking dealer for most of what we sell. As I said, a lot of these "dealers" never see the products and you get screwed by getting a return.

I'm not sure how to message on this app and I'm currently in my tree stand. I dont have the Amazon seller right off but the company/seller had 98 per cent rating. I had previously done business with them and been satisfied. It came in the sealed factory box. Other than what would be expected from a shipping trip, the box looked good. All packages inside had never been opened. This is what lead me to believe it was something simple I missed. I have bought rigids 40 inch bar and installed it without a hitch. The only reason I really tested it before install was to see how bright it really was. 2020 is the new saying I guess.

Well that explains it... amazon seller. If they are not a stocking Rigid dealer or someone who knows the industry, they sold you something that was most likely a return that they never got to inspect. Happens all the time with these amazon sellers. They don't actually have warehouses or take in inventory, so when one of their customers returns something, they have it sent back to the distributor like I mentioned, who doesn't check it either (as they are a distributor, and if it looks new, back on the shelf).

Chances are, you got sold a used item someone else either returned or had issues with and didn't bother RMAing it and just sent it back to an amazon seller. Now it COULD have been this guy OR most likely it was just some other random guy, and the guy you bought from got screwed.

It's a big problem with drop shippers, whom never see product.

So my guess is, you got a bad unit someone else already returned. You should get your seller to RMA it direct with Rigid so that it doesn't get sent back to the distributor and end up on someone else's door step with the same problem.

BTW why buy Rigid on amazon? Why not buy from a dealer whom can take care of you direct. Not only can you usually get better pricing, but you're supporting a dealer who doesn't lose 12% to amazon (that's their fee).

As stated in the original post it was received as a gift. It was someone trying to do something nice and it turned out to be a shitshow.

Why did she order from Amazon? She gets two day free shipping and it came in 1. She said she went with the lowest price she could find on a new lightbar as she is frugal and we aren't rich. Checking your website it was way less than what you have it listed for. More than 1/3 actually.

Ordering there is not necessarily what I would have done, but it was a gift. I came back to this forum for some help since it's been awhile and I am reminded as to why I dont come back often anymore.

Best of luck to you in the New Year and stay safe.

She bought it from an unauthorized dealer, and she get a DOA bar.

Rigid dealers all advertise for the same price, as we're required to per Rigid's policies. It's what protects us, AND consumers. When you buy from an authorized Rigid dealer you're getting the warranty/support that comes with it.

When you buy something from these fly by night shops at amazon that advertise for 1/3 the price, well you never know what you are getting. A used item/returned item/an item that you can't get support on.

I mean, look at your issue here. You can't get support from Rigid. You can't get support from the dealer. This is why the bar was so cheap. My guess, is that it was a DOA bar to begin with and the guy selling it was just trying to get rid of it, thus the big savings in price. He doesn't honestly care about doing the right thing, they are a fly by night operation. They'll close down shop soon and open under a new name selling for cheap.

Dealers see this ALL THE TIME.

A lot of people offered you help here, but the bottom line is, you got sold a damaged item and now the seller/manufacturer are not helping because you bought it from an unauthorized dealer.

I wish you luck with your purchase, but you should just file an A-Z claim against the seller because you got screwed (which sucks, it's unfortunate the end-users get suckered into these "deals" on Amazon)

I have filed a complaint with Amazon. The seller is offering a refund with return. Rigid has not responded as of yet.
