Someone finds a way to disable it, let me know.

@Zeusmotorworks

Pop the cover off your FOB, use an exacto knife or something similar to trim off the rubber nub that contacts the tailgate release button. Boom, permanently disabled for that FOB.

Edit: I made a quick video on how to do this.

My truck would be in the garage if it fit. But it doesn't, so it don't. It will be a strong consideration in the next house (if there is one), but I am not buying a new house to fit the truck.

Regardless, I had a jeep cherokee for my previous vehicle, and had a similar problem with the power tailgate/truck hitting the garage door. It was an issue with garage door opened or closed. After I got a bad scratch, I got some foam weatherstripping on the garage wherever the tailgate might hit it.

I did it once right after I brought the truck home

I went 11 years on my previous 4 wheeler, and traded the relatively archaic technology for the Rap. I think an 802a Raptor has about 2.25-2.5 x the technology of the most recent space shuttle. We made a costco run the 2nd day I had it and I did fairly similar. As usual, I backed into the parking space. There was a sign at the end of the parking space and on the way out instead of thoughtfully looking at the remote to unlock the truck, I inadvertently opened the tailgate right into the sign.

it left the tiniest of marks, but I am unable to let stuff like that go. I got touch up, and got to work on trying to improve it. After 10 days of trying I was still seeing the damage, so I headed up to the local body shop, he charged me 50 bucks and it looked as good as new.

My Raptor stays in the driveway. The GT350 and Harley Ultra Ltd stay inside. Raptor is my DD.

BLASPHEMER! Move that peasant bike outside to make room for the Rap. ;)

Parking at Costco (or anywhere public) is scary anyway. Saw this there last weekend, 30 degrees out so this guy is one tough SOB is my guess. Not even commenting on his lack of humility.

I was thinking “how did he ever pass inspection?” and my wife says “where does he put his stuff from Costco?”.

When I bought my Raptor it had a small little ding just below the plastic trim on the tailgate. It was used so I figured, "hey its a Raptor" I expect a ding or 2. Until reading this post it never crossed my mind about the PopGate o_O

Have any of you had tailgate open inappropriately? Mine was opening on its own at times . I would come out and find it that way. Apparently there was a recall on that mechanism and I brought to dealer for repair. Not sure they knew what they were doing as it’s happened again unprovoked . 2018 crew with 802 A
