I recently went off roading with my truck and lost power steering on low rpms. When i get back up to speed and turn my truck just fine. Truck does not turn at low rpms and makes a whining noise but once i get passed 2,800 rpm it works. Has anyone had this issue or know what it might be? 2012 SCREW 170,000 miles.

Steering pump is bad.. they develop an internal leak and only work at rpm..

Be sure to replace the reservoir when you have the pump replaced, as the reservoir contains the fluid filter. If you change just the pump you're likely to have a repeat failure.
Or at least pull it out and clean it, best I remember it’s a fine mesh screen...and the entire system capacity is barely over a quart or so...

I have NIB Power Steering pump. I purchased it from my dealership for $285 and would keep it as a trail spare and never had to use it. $100 less shipped
