High Output Lights on the Bumper

I have installed a set of BD Squadrons/S1's in the bumper pockets. They're great on the road. I do a lot of traveling between Denver and Spearfish, SD. Deer are a big issue on US85 and other places I travel. I also travel a lot in Mexico on adventure bikes.

I just had a hip replacement (I was run over in a parking lot) so for this year's Baja trip I'm going to use the Raptor as a support vehicle for my riding buddies. I was going to put a BD S8 in the grill. Now I'm thinking about a set of LP9 Pro spots and set of LP6 Pro driving lights. That setup will work on US backroads as well.

So here's the question. What's the best way to mount these lights on the bumper? I'm really concerned about blocking the front camera. I want to have a clean installation. The only mount I've found is the N-Fab bar and I really haven't seen any good pictures of that.

Having lived in Denver for 5+ years, you're right about those deer!

There's no shortage of great options when it comes to BD lighting. The 30" S8 and a nice set of fog lights does provide a ton of light. And no doubt that some LP6's or LP9's out front would also produce a ton of lighting as well. The N-Fab mount is ok, but we've had too many folks that have had their N-Fab mount crack from the weight and stress of larger lights like the LP9's. We like the Swarfworks mount. Similar style looks wise, similar mounting as well it's just a lot more robust and designed to handle the weight.

The N-Fab mount has had a lot of complaints about how weak it is, and the light just bounces all over while you drive. I like the looks, so I grabbed a Swarfworks mount with 4 LP-9s and a set of LP-4s. My setup will look like the blue truck in the Swarfworks picture above. I checked out Paul's truck earlier this year, and seeing it in person made me a believer. You can't go wrong with anything from Swarfworks.

I can drop some pictures in here once I get mine installed. It'll probably be a couple of weeks before I get around to it.

How badly is the front camera affected with the LP9’s in the bumper like that?

Swarfworks makes a front camera relocation kit. So it’s not an issue

I’m debating on replacing my bumper with SVC’s no cut and running the LP9’s. Swarfwork’s website says it only works with the ADD and the LP6’s. Am I going to need a little fabrication?

Quite possibly. Unlikely Swarfworks has been able to test fit their kit on all bumper/light configurations out there.

I think I like the SwarfWorks with LP6’s best as they won’t block the Ford emblem when [email protected] is it possible to run the LP6’s without their amber backlighting (ie wire to a different switch or somehow disable)? Not sure I like the look of that feature

I have s8 + xl 80s on the pillars. Absolutely zero problem identifying roadside critters in PLENTY of time too slow.

I can tell you that a bar on the NFAB mount will block a substantial portion of the camera, I posted pics years back. With lights like lp9/6/4 you could leave the inside near the camera vacant to preserve some of the forward view.

My question on the LP series would be how much movement are you getting on those lights?

I really like your options for the LP6's however I prefer a more OEM/Covert look, but utilitarian. That said, I'm looking at a set of BD S2 Pro flush mounts on the bumper plastic plates either side of the license plate hole which would add nicely to my DD lights hiding behind my bumper hole grills (Amazon).

How well do the S2 pros work?
