Oil change after only 1,200 miles???

If it sits a lot or gets driven on short trips you’ll get condensation build up that you want out. It’s not that the oil wears out or breaks down sitting but it does still get full of junk you don’t want in there.

I wouldn't wait for 1200 miles on the first change.

Change.

Cheap insurance, future warranty coverage, condensation in oil.

I would change it simply to get the break-in metals out of the engine. Make sure you switch to a full synthetic.

Change the oil and your driving habits. Its fun to drive and trucks/cars hold up better if they are driven over sitting in your garage.

I changed mine the first time at 2000 miles, not because the oil life meter said to, but because I wanted the break-in engine oil out and full synthetic in.

My Raptor is on the once a year oil change plan as well as one of my Shelby GT’s. I put about 3000 miles a year and run full synthetic. On my Shelby I don’t even hit 1000 miles a year but still change it yearly. I have started reusing the oil out of it in my lawnmower which seems to like the full synthetic. Cheap insurance to change.

My Raptor doesn't rack up the mileage (2010 with 18,600 miles) but I always change the oil once a year at least. I never let it go longer than that, Mobil 1 and Motorcraft filter.

Like so many others on this thread, I agree, change the oil. For me as a rule, when I know the car is going to sit for a wile, like during the winter for my sports cars, I always change the oil. Over time the oil breaks down and from my experience, starts to turn acidic (oxidize), even it just sits in the oil pan, that could cause issues with your bearings and other internals later. IMOHO, it's a good $100 well spent VS an engine rebuild (very extreme).
