For your question on how long the joint lasts. My buddy has them on his Lexus GX470, 2yrs and ~35k miles with regreasing them every ~4k on oil changes and his were not yet worn out. I would expect them to last longer than standard a uniball since they are lubricated, and are able to pull clean grease into them from on top of the joint, and they have grooves to push the gunk into. And then by regreasing every 3-5k, you can flush the old grease and contaminants out.

Thanks for that! I don't plan on putting a lot of miles on the truck, so I'm not worried if they will last like 40k as most likely I'll never put that kind of use on the truck for a while. I was just worried they only lasted about 10k. Haha I'm curious the comparison between the Icon vs other cheaper ones since I don't plan on beating the truck up much, just figured it would be a better replacement than stock bushings and ball joints when I do rebuild the front end.

Unfortunately a lot is lost over text that can't be easily picked up like in real world conversation, and people rarely take the time to get to know someone on the internet before trying to call them out on something. I may not always be right on everything, but damn if I haven't invested a lot of time into things. Haha

If anyone has a question call ARP.
Go by what the manufacture recommends. Let them know how you are going to utilize their bolts.
If in the area ,ARP has a pretty good little restraint / cafe. Stop by an grab lunch & schedule a tour. Gary is a great guy. Unfortunately, I don't know if he is still around. I haven't spoke to or seen him for at least 10 years. I'm not up in that area to often anymore.

Sounds like you should just put stock arms on it. It sounds like you don't put the truck through a lot, so the OEM bushings and ball joint will outlast anything aftermarket.

Wouldn't it be worth the upgraded arms though for the articulation? My worry was just them wearing out very early, but seeing as though that's not the case if they're lubed then I'm fine.

The only real advantage for aftermarket arms for a street / light beater truck is the range of adjustment. Factory alignment specs are limited. With a weld in lower block out plate with the adjustable upper arms, you can run a much more aggressive suspension alignment. You will have to rotate your tires more frequently. light amount of additional travel / as stated articulation - will be a benefit also

The wheel travel is limited by the shock, not the stock ball joint. If it was limited by the ball joint, they woudn't last very long lol. Aftermarket arm upgrade is mostly for strength, and the adjustability of the ones that have adjustable inner pivots that can be adjusted without removing them from the truck..

100% true - The Shock body limits the total shock movement. Running a bit longer shaft will increase the downward travel of the wheel and with limit stops for the upward travel. The aftermarket upper control arm will allow a bit more downward travel / less bind.
You will still have the same overall travel. Since upward wheel travel is less - no fender banging with 37"+ tires. Also more WEAR for the CVs. You can order your shock with a different shaft length - More $$$ or make your own shaft. I don't know of anyone anymore who wants to grind a newly chromed shaft and not charge Bueno $$$$$s. I checked so I haven't done it.
