I was snooping through your post history and saw the rodent post. Did you see any chewed wiring prior besides the firewall insulation?

Knock on wood, so far no chewed wiring, and I check under the hood a lot since that last incident. Started spraying some of that rodent stuff, and also put a couple of packets of anti rodent stuff under the hood. I don't know how much any of that stuff really helps......

I had a Silverado lose the battle to a rat and cost me a bunch of money to get fixed. Later, I learned from one of the mechanics, that used dryer sheets work well because they hate the smell of that.... Obviously, do not put one under your hood next to something that gets really hot. Never had the problem again and the cost was right. Come to think of it. I sold that truck.... Dryer sheets and all. Ha I bet someone noticed it and wondered "what in the redneck universe was this guy doing?"

Yeah, I started with dryer sheets as well, tying them around several locations under the hood. Of course they lose their smell fairly quickly. I still have them tied in place and now when I spray under the hood I soak them as well with the spray. If you look into it, most of these sprays and packets all have the same basic ingredient, peppermint oil. Like I said, I am doubtful how well it works, but you gotta try something, right?

Service Manager already said something to the effect of "well if you put in 4L and did a big hard launch.......... that would not be covered by warranty"

Tell the S/M he should consider employment in food service. Something where he would regularly ask if we would like fries with that.

Tell that F*cker to open the driver’s side door, look down and read out loud what it says on the door sill.

Is it “Ford Economy”? How about “Ford Doesn’t Care”? No? Neither of those? What does it say then?

agree with previous poster; sounds a lot like they’re trying to milk you for money and soak you with the bill for a covered by warranty repair.

Update - they have ordered a replacement transfer case, should be here in 5-7 days. They started by testing the motor on the case, then Ford directed them to remove the case and do a partial disassembly of it. They found internal broken parts, sent the info to Ford, who then had them fully disassemble the case. Got the call this morning that they ordered the replacement transfer case. My impression is that a gear cracked or sort of disintegrated, causing additional internal broken parts.

Is it me, or, does this stealership simply lack a basic understanding of customer impact and a general sense of urgency?

Guess it all depends on the dealership. I recall getting an oil change for a Nissan Pathfinder and the dealership said that they need to rebuild the transmission. I was 120 miles away from the house traveling and asked them if it was ok to take it to a dealership closer to home and they said shouldn’t be an issue. I am glad it worked out for you. I bought the extended warranty for this truck as I don’t baby my vehicles.
