King 3.0's, bumpstops... and an old truck with low miles? Will it jump?

Seems overall like the first gens are kinda.. "ehh".. in stock for but are still cool. I'd like one that is capable of abuse.

clean title, with a bunch of other bolt on stuff no one cares about

-81k miles and counting as it’s my daily
-graphics and luxury package,
-35” grabber x3 tires with about 70% tread.
-gen 2 raptor forged beadlock wheels with the ford performance true beadlock ring kit(s).
-King 3.0 shocks in front, 3.0 bypasses rear.
-Forged offroad front 2.0 King bump stops.
-RPG Stage 2 rear frame reinforcement system with King 2.5 bumps, plus deaver leaf springs.
-SDHQ Baja front bumper with 4x 9” vision x halogens

its a 2010 with a 6.2 and 80k miles adn its a daily driver (supposedly) for around $29k

you guys have more experience with these suspensions than me so if there's anything specific I should ask him about his suspension setup (like maintenance, valving, pitting shaft, or any of the other things I should look out for please educate me. Or should I find a stock truck and do it myself

I'm not so sure about a gen 1 being "ehh" in stock form. They are very capable. See if you can find a bone stock one at a local dealer to test drive, that way you have a benchmark.

Find out what the mileage on the Kings is, all of the parts are replaceable so they can be rebuilt if neccasary.

If you want a Molten Orange scab with the graphics package go test drive it. Price and mileage look good to me.

they seem pretty capable and the drivetrains/etc. seem pretty bullet proof. Better than a TRD yota anyway. I drove a couple and think they're nice.
its out of state so I can't inspect it personally and will need to have it delivered

It seemed like a good deal and was curious what people thought and what to look out for

I don't really care about the scab vs. screw or decals.

I’ve seen that truck for sale. Questionable tire carrier but it seems like it’s decently clean. See if he’ll negotiate some. Gen 1’s aren’t that great stock. I had mine stock for 2 months and the ride off-road was so bad I refused to take it off pavement until I did shocks and leaf springs. The icon leaf springs ride like a dream on road, too.

I had mine stock for 2 months and the ride off-road was so bad I refused to take it off pavement until I did shocks and leaf springs. The icon leaf springs ride like a dream on road, too.

That's a tiregate, they make tailgate spare tire carriers and are pretty cool, also reversible so the tire can tilt into the bed. Aren't great for what? The ride on yours was likely bad due to suspension needing a rebuild. I've taken mine off-road stock and it definitely wasn't all that bad, but you have to keep your expectations in check. I've got more suspension now and I love how capable it feels without bottoming or anything through rough roads when compared to my mildly built and tuned tacoma. I honestly don't notice a ton of difference in on-road ride when adding the deavers, at all.

I would get that truck in a heartbeat, assuming the price is reasonable. I would expect to rebuild all the shocks almost immediately; they only last 30k +/- miles with regular offroad use.

Personal preference, but I also don't like the tailgate carrier because it puts all that weight so far back and it is only one tire; a bed mount rack would hold two spares, between the axels, along with tools, fuel, jack, etc. If you do keep the tire out there, I'd make sure the deavers are the heavy duty ones.

Bonus, the early gen 1 trucks have the most stable GPS mount option. Sometime after 2011, whenever they switched to Sync3(?), they removed the two screws from the top of the radio. Unbonus, no Torsen front diff.

The ride on stock leaf springs was horrible, and has been horrible on every stock leaf spring truck I’ve ridden in. The rear end bucks too much with them. I meant it’s questionable as far as what is now popular. The in bed tire carriers are the “in” thing as far as looks.

The icons are softer than the deavers and will ride differently
