I think you're misconstruing what is being said here. I don't like Florida; Its a subjective thing. You can ramble about liberal policies all you want, thats not my bag. I'm talking about my enjoyment, and I didn't enjoy that swampy hell hole at all.

Plus you talk about cost, San Diego is one of the cheapest places I've lived. Honolulu is insanely expensive for cost of living stuff... but if you're talking about just registration, well then shit its only 25 bucks baby.

So what you say is subjective, but somehow what I am saying is not subjective? Yea, okay. Me and plenty of other people don’t find excessive taxes, economic regulation, and overpriced homes an enjoyable experience. Lol I am sure all the people that had their power cut this summer thought that was an enjoyable experience too. At least your enjoying yourself in Cali :)

Moreover, if it’s so enjoyable, I find it funny that the hotels in Idaho (and many other states) have been packed for months with people from Cali looking for real estate and trying to leave the ****** hell hole of Cali. Not to mention, all the people like Joe Rogan, Ben Shapiro, and Elon Musk that are leaving and/or have talked about leaving. To each their own.

Ben Shapiro only left California to continue his search for AOC's feet pics.

Just about to do my '22 Washington registration. $548.50 total, includes $5 automatic 'donation' to state parks (happy to pay it, but can opt-out if desired). Otherwise, the breakdown is:
$4.50 for filing fee to the county
$8 to the sub-agent if renewed in person OR towards ferry replacement if mailed in
$20 to the 'Transportation Benefit District' for Seattle
$93 for Gross Weight fee to fund road/street/hiway maint/improvements
$418 Regional Transit Authority Tax to fund our light rail system expansion.
Right...76% of it goes to fund light rail. 17% goes to roads.
I'd be happy to flip those two around.

Damn! You should move over to the sunny side of the state! My Seattle Mariners plate is $130-140 to renew in Spokane, with the $5 to parks included. I used to get my Discover Pass for the state parks through licensing too but that option doesn't seem to be available anymore. I renew online and drive ten minutes to pick up my tabs.

Yeah, that RTA fee is a killer for sure. Seems I'm seeing a lot more expired licenses driving around. Risk of getting caught seems pretty minimal, 'less you do something to catch Officer Friendlys' attention, and the $145 or whatever fine is a ton less. If you're working less due to the pandemic, probably make that 'risk worth the benefit' calculus (or 'eat or renew tabs...') and just let 'em go.

@zemuron99 do you have to have a front plate over there? I was thinking about taking mine off and if I get stopped just pay the fix it ticket and keep doing it. I've never been able to figure out why some WA vehicles have front & back and some just back.....

Yeah, still running the front plate, but I've got the upper holes of the plate bolted in to the lower holes of the plate holder to get a bit more air thru the charged air cooler. I think if you get stopped for no front plate you could possibly fix it, send in a photo and get it dismissed, but I'm not 100% sure on this.

You get what you vote for....

Government has their slimey hands in your bank accounts.

We did this to ourselves, it was a voter-approved initiative in the three metro Seattle counties where light rail will run. And as a frequent public-transit user, I support the idea. But 1.1% of depreciated value is pretty steep, a lot of people are having 'buyers remorse' on this. Some lawsuits were filed over the way the value is being calculated, but I don't recall that they got very far.

I also read that Washington State voters approved a measure to reduce car tabs. And then the corrupt liberal courts overturned the will of the people. Pay up!

West coast is screwed. Democrat party rule in every branch of government.

And they are happy to drive around in their $100k Teslas while all the pleobes give each other Covid and ride choo choo trains that cost a billion dollars per mile of track. ...Those trains are empty.
