Newb Question: S-cab vs. S-crew?

Hi all,

Shopping for my 1st Raptor. Going to be a used 2019-2020 model, since new ones are unobtainium unless you want to spend $10K+ over sticker!

Was looking for a s-crew, but have found a few s-cab's that look good. I don't have backseat passengers that often, so I probably can get by with the supercab.

Any major advantages/disadvantages? (besides the obvious -- smaller rear seat space and 26 vs. 36 fuel tank)

Do the F150 supercab's have any problems with the rear "suicide doors" rattling? (I had another brand supercab with those backward-opening half-doors years ago, and they rattled a bit over rough ground)

SCABs turn around and park much more easily.

I bought a 2020 Screw. I still have a Silverado extended cab with the same door setup. I think everyone's doors are quiet now. I did some long test drives of 2 different Scabs, both were tight as a drum. After having my extended cab a few years I got very tired of having to open the front door to open the back door. I also found there were a fair amount of times I wanted more rear cab room, not for people, but for guns and gear that I wanted IN the cab. They are both nice trucks.

No complaints and what a look!

As an owner of a SCAB I will say I love the looks and my kid sits comfortably in the back seat. The only downside is I’m learning they don’t hold their value as well as the SCREWs.

I love my SCREW, back seat room and fuel tank is a big plus like you/others mentioned. One downside that I didn't realize would become an issue is the SCREW measures roughly 20.5 feet long which means a lot of 'standard' length (i.e. 20ft) garages won't fit it. It's actually surprisingly annoying to find a house with a minimum 21ft garage and trying to explain to the wife why she can't have this or that house because of my big stupid monster truck is tiresome.

The overall length difference between a scab and screw is 11.9" so don't pay attention to people who say there is a big difference with parking cause there isn't. The turning radius difference is .7'

Yes. The scabs do rattle due to the fact they are missing the support between the doors. Here's a link and a google search will reveal many more::

The additional rear floor room of the screw is useful for carrying stuff besides passengers and it's much easier to load when parked next to anything.
When not parked next to another vehicle or obstacle it's about the same.

Screw has a better tow rating. scab is 5k without WD hitch and 6k with a WD hitch. SCREW is 5k without WD hitch and 8k with.

If you can't find Raptors at or below MSRP I'd suggest looking around outside your local area. I paid 500 below MSRP for a custom ordered one and that was before the imminent release of the new model when it was even more common for the dealers to add markup. Try searching out of state...for the money your spending I wouldn't be afraid to drive a ways to pick up your vehicle and save the additional markup.

If money is the issue then the scab will always be a couple grand cheaper....all things being equal... weather there is a markup or not.

The scab is better off road. I've owned both. About 1/10th the number of scabs compared to screws are produced so it's not as common to see a scab. I did like the full size rear doors and fuel capacity of the screw but those factors weren't as important as off road performance...for me anyway.

i dont have any rattles, and the only time the rear door is an issue is in tight parking spaces, which i avoid anyways..

i wouldn't want a screw regardless of resale or rear seat floor space.. so i flew 400 mi to get my used 19 scab.. i saved about $16k off the $70k sticker with 9000mi.at that time last year, there was only 10 used 19s in the country and only 3 or 4 of those were 802.. dont be afraid to travel a bit for the right truck.
