Factory vs aftermarket skid plates

For those who use their trucks, did you feel a need to upgrade the factory skid plates? It seems like most aftermarket skid plates offer almost essentially the same amount of coverage that the factory ones do. I am considering aftermarket skid plates as a preventative thing, but still a bit on the fence. Will most likely replace the fuel tank skid plate if anything, since that piece is plastic from the factory.

I changed mine, I would say the aftermarket ones are an upgrade in strength. However everyone I know including me wrecks their stock bumper and front skid so I would prioritize a frame cut bumper first if you off road and want protection and necessary clearance. Dif skid is worthwhile too
