Hey guys, currently the truck has the Kooks longtube headers with a custom header back using a Flowmaster Super 40 and Corsa chrome tips in the stock location. It sounds amazing, but I'm kind of wanting to change the tips to the black ones, and I'm wondering if it would be better to relocate the exhaust to increase clearance. The issue I'm wondering is if I move the outlet under the truck is that it will resonate badly off the bed/cab. Thoughts?

@PorterW1111 , post your exhaust for this fellow Gen 1 owner!!

Yup run that bishh right out the side of the bed. Will give you the most clearance of all. And trust me you’ll be deaf if you dump headers under the cab. Will echo, reverb, drone like crazy. You’ll even feel the sound in your seat. It’s fun when you are on the wot but any other time is terrible.

I seen that before and thought it was a cool idea. By dumping it under the truck I meant like doing a turn down or something above the axle, but from past experience that still causes some pretty bad reverb in cab/bed. I like the sound I have now, just figured it might be better if I could move the outlet for some better clearance potentially. I'm just not sure if I wanna cut a hole in my bed. Haha What exhaust setup do you have and how loud is it?

I posted a YouTube clip for the sound. It’s loud but it’s out the side. So makes great to blast into open car windows haha. Yeah any exit under the cab is going to give you crazy reverb/drone.

I’m running 3.5” with a “hot swap” bbk muffler or straight pipe using V band clamps. So for long trips I throw the muffler on. For around town the straight section replaces the muffler. It the exit is always the same.

cutting holes in perfectly good metal or in my case brand new fiberglass is definitely a commitment thing...

Computer speakers aren't always great for sound idea, but I'd imagine it's fairly loud. Haha I had a friend with a Mustang that had turn downs above the rear axle and it reverberated off the ground pretty badly, so I'm not really wanting that in a truck I plan to travel long distances with. I figured at least if it was pointing out the bed it wouldn't be much louder as long as I was able to retain the same muffler I have now. My worry was crushing the tips off roading since they're technically a low spot, but I guess at that point I'd probably hit the hitch first.

Yeah if you are not running a frame cut bumper or dovetail. Then there really is no need to move the pipes. Other than if you just wanted to.

I've got a frame cut front, I'm really debating doing a tube rear bumper and dovetailing the bed, but I also want to retain the hitch and I know without removing the hitch there's not really a reason to dovetail the rear.

I believe that RPG actually makes a slim line hitch with D-rings and trailer connector mount that fits their tube bumper, so I may go that route.
