It’s nice to have some leeway in case life gets in the way. Good way to look at it.

Actually there is. If consuming above normal oil. manufacturer recommends oil change and inspection of valve cover gaskets. Fixed.

No, there isn't. The oil in the crankcase is normal oil, not "break in oil". As to the abnormal consumption ... if broken, fix. If not broken, do normal maintenance. Am I missing something?

Had to have my first oil change at 1750 miles because of this very reason. There was zero mechanical or gasket failure or leaks. Just the type of lubricant added during assembly.

Oil change to specified motor oil fixed it. Never consumed oil since.
