Is “The Works” the right package? Normally do my own oil changes, but letting the dealer handle my raptor

I thought they came with full synthetic, but the dealer’s website says “the works” includes a synthetic blend ....

Ford keeps bouncing back and forth in their documentation on what type of oil to use in our Raptors. Synthetic blend or full synthetic will work. Most of us run full synthetic. If you want full synthetic...simply pay the difference.

“The works” is probably some stealership package. keep an eye on your costs and what is included. A lot of it may be superfluous. Back home, the local stealership “works” package was something like a buck 70. Routine service at the local stealership in TX is half that.

Service advisors are in the business of making money for the stealership. I know they were pushing some extra stuff on me in VA, I told them to do what was required in the manual to preserve the warranty, no add ons.

I’d spring for my own synthetic oil if I were you and be done with it. There’s nothing wrong with Motorcraft synthetic, but, you’re paying stealership prices for the oil and you can get it much, much cheaper yourself. The should be happy to credit you the cost of the oil ( unless “the works” is a fixed cost service, in which case tell them you just want xxxxx mile required service, period ).

I run full synthetic, but do my own now, I don't think a blend will hurt, if you're consistent with maintenance.

At my dealership “the works” is just their name for an oil change and tire rotation.

At mine it's called "The Full Monty" and they give you a foot massage.

I do my own oil changes and it's something like $29-$32 with Mobil 1 synthetic and filter after I buy the oil on sale at Walmart. I get the filters for $4 off Amazon.

I’m thinking I’m just going to do it myself. What else is involved with 10k? Tire rotation ?

I’m intrigued by Kirkland Signature synthetic oil sold at Costco. Wouldn’t mind giving it a whirl and doing a UOA just for kicks.

The Works at my Quick Lane includes a synthetic blend oil change, tire rotation vehicle checkup including fluid top-off, battery test, filter check, belts & hoses test and a car wash. All this for only $21.95 which means the wife’s car gets to visit them. They have never washed it but I wouldn’t let them if they tried.
