Isis, I agree.

Obviously this is impossible to diagnose online.

That said, if the issue occurred after some tinkering with the vehicle—I could only think that something may have been inadvertently pulled loose/disconnected? It is easy to knock something loose.

The only other thing that comes to mind is if the aftermarket exhaust/muffler swap left something loose which is vibrating at a certain RPM range and creating a rattling sound. Steel is a great conductor of sound/noise.

He said the truck was doing this and the dealer did cam phasers thinking that was the problem, it's still doing the same thing. I don't think the exhaust was done in the engine compartment, lol. Can't see their being wiring down by the mufflers which would affect the engine performance on initial start up, but then on a restart everything is fine. It's got to be programming or a stuck valve component, but what do I know, I can get lost in my own house, lol.

Again, impossible to diagnose online. Wiring/something disconnected is my first thought—which is throwing codes.

The second idea regarding exhaust came to mind regarding the resonant/rattling sound is—he did change the muffler. Exhaust systems in some vehicles don’t like tampering.

I do not know anything about the exhaust system on a Raptor as mine is stock—but some vehicles have connections along the exhaust system path (exhaust valve for sound, torque, etc). I work for a company that developed an exhaust valve that opened/closed under certain parameters/operating conditions/ranges. Mess with that—error message could occur. possible a CEL?

Just thinking it through.

Fair enough, you are right, we can not diagnose over the internet, but we've come close in the past, lol. Hopefully it's not the muffler though, so the op isn't on the hook.

I understand what you guys are saying but now i am leaning more towards, one of the fuel injectors not connecting very well upon cold start but after a key cycle, it starts working fine somewhat fine again? haha idek if what i’m saying makes sense. thanks for all the replies though

Just my two cents, maybe it's a lean condition. These engines have both port and direct injection if I'm not mistaken? Maybe the high pressure fuel pump is weak and takes a bit to hit the pressure needed? Just a thought....

Probably not your issue but myself and others had a secondary lead, red in color I believe, that is attached to the battery post which was loose from the factory.

Now that it’s setting misfire DTCs, get it to the dealer ASAP for diagnosis.

If it's throwing those codes and it has been worked on by a dealer, was it throwing codes before the dealer worked on it? Did it run fine up until you changed the exhaust? How many miles are on it?

You could dig into the wiring and check for loose connections but if it was there before and still there after a big job (for most) and under warranty why take the risk? You could pull the spark plugs and get a reading on them but the fact that it runs fine after being restarted I doubt the plugs would show anything unless a big gap is on one.

But again it's under warranty and you can pick and choose what parts you want to replace and still not fix the issue.

I don`t know if it would be something with the injectors but who knows, easy enough to check. Did the dealer even road test the truck out under the same circumstances that you reported to them? Anytime after sitting or running it always does it on the first start and corrects itself after you shut off and start up it goes away? Is it only when your heavy on the pedal or even a regular like driving in a 35 mph zone and it shifts through the gears? No tune to the truck correct?
