Standard F150 is not designed for Baja style racing either so it doesn't need the stronger frame.
The talk for two years, that the Gen 2 was going to be 1000-1500 lbs. lighter, but you can try to dismiss that.
Aluminum panels need to be thicker to prevent dings but the roof construction is not strong enough to keep the Gen 2s frame from bending.

And you keep believing your Gen 2 is the be end all.
I dont think anyone here believes the Gen 2 is the end all be all.....it is just factually better than the Gen 1 as it should be. And the Gen 3 will be better than both Gen 1 and Gen 2.

Only Gen 1 guys believe their truck is the end all be all as you have already proved by your post is this thread alone

Gen1 guys don’t think it’s the end all be all of trucks, they just think it’s a better truck than the Gen2. Which is all opinion depending on what you use her for.

Let’s wait and see what they do with the Gen3 before everyone gets into a pissing contest again huh?

Also remember the weight....needs to be +6,000-pounds GVWR to fall into the IRS tax code 179...why do you think lux suv are heavy too.

Show us where Ford ever advertised, stated, or suggested that the Gen 2 was going to be 1000 to 1500lbs lighter than the previous truck. It never happened. Ford stated up to 700lbs, which came out to 500lbs on Raptors.

The aluminum roof structure on the Gen 2 is stronger than the sheet metal on the Gen 1, just like every other body and frame component. Where do you come up with this baseless ********? Just throw it at the wall and hope it sticks?

It’s sad that you can’t just come to terms with the fact that the Gen 2 outperforms the Gen 1 it in every single aspect, all while offering more technology and features for an equivalent price.

You stated that you need a V8 in the Gen 3, but the rant above has nothing to do with engine, only shocks. Your modded/custom shocks vs the stock Gen 2 shocks.

I agree with the general concept that because these trucks, all trucks really, can be heavily modded, it's not uncommon for the modded truck you own to be a better truck than the latest and greatest truck option.

But really stock vs stock is the only way to compare, unless a particular mod is particularly easy/cheap on one Gen, and not possible/expensive on another.
I choose the v8 if is was supercharged from factory. So yeah, if I had a choice over a v6 turbo vs a v8 supercharger, I am taking the supercharger. That’s all I meant by that.

And as far as suspension. All I was trying to say was if all I did on my GEN1 is upgrade the shocks to 3.0’s (granted with reservoirs) but still just 3.0’s then I would of thought that a stock GEN2 with 3.0 live shocks would of given me a comparable ride off-road. It does not which honestly was somewhat surprising. Power with the GEN1 when off-roading was never an issue. The difference of just 40hp isn’t that overwhelming, its barely a butt dyno. Granted on take off the torque makes a difference but I cannot stand how the GEN2 shifts.

Yes if you compare stock to stock the GEN2 is better but I think the rear end is worse than the GEN1. The back end of the GEN2 is definitely noticeable different and not in a good way, around corners it seems to kick out and kicks more over bumps and holes. Perhaps because its lighter.

So for someone to have a GEN1 and spend about $7k on suspension to be a lot better than a stock GEN2, I would of thought the difference would of been more overwhelming.

So now I am buying again suspension upgrades. I haven’t installed but sitting in my garage is Deavers +4HD, RPG shackles, upgraded Fox Live shocks (reservoirs again and especially adjustability) and ICON UCA’s just to get back to hopefully what my GEN1 was.

And I have also considered not installing any of this and instead just sell it while its new and stick with stock until I can see if Ford makes the GEN3 finally with something with an overwhelming difference. And the only mods I need to do is add lights and some bed accessories

The "ride off road" is entirely subjective. The professional reviews all disagree. As far as power, 40HP is not "barely a butt dyno", it's quite a significant difference. The 80 lb-ft of torque even more so. The Gen 2 runs 0-60 in the low 5 second range, while the Gen 1 even with the 6.2 is in the 7+ second range. A difference of 2+ seconds in 0-60 is an eternity. Complaining how the 10R shifts only exemplifies your biased opinion; it shifts faster than the 6R80 and with less parasitic losses.

Yes if you compare stock to stock the GEN2 is better but I think the rear end is worse than the GEN1. The back end of the GEN2 is definitely noticeable different and not in a good way, around corners it seems to kick out and kicks more over bumps and holes. Perhaps because its lighter.

So the rear end of the lighter, more powerful truck with 80 lb-ft more torque is more susceptible to oversteer around corners? You don't say...

Unlike the Gen 1, the Gen 2 has 4WD Auto, which all but eliminates that concern.

So for someone to have a GEN1 and spend about $7k on suspension to be a lot better than a stock GEN2, I would of thought the difference would of been more overwhelming.

So spending $7,000 in unproven aftermarket upgrades to make a vehicle "better" than the new factory engineered model is your justification? When adjusted for inflation, the Gen 1 and Gen 2 cost the same. So you're simply admitting that the Gen 1 needs $7,000 to even try and compete with the Gen 2.

What are you expecting? The 2019+ is the most capable Raptor ever built; the Gen 3 will simply build on the same engineering principles and design.

I think people confuse opinion with actual facts. There could be an opinion that a GEN 1 is better than a GEN 2 but all actual facts prove those opinions wrong.

Now back to opinion, you said depending on what you use her for so I ask you, in what situation is a gen 1 better than a gen 2?

For what its worth I don’t think we need to wait til the Gen 3 comes out to know it will be better than a Gen 2 . It comes with the territory
