Hello all,

I have a 2017 SCREW that I take off road to Anza Borrego and just about any other trails I can find—several times per year. After my last trip to Anza, the suspension around the rear, drivers side wheel in particular is groaning and creaking when I get in/out of the truck or go in/out of the bed. I have looked for any visible issues/damage, but cannot see anything. It is still pretty dusty/dirty up in the entire underside, so I can’t see a lot of detail as far as small cracks or issues that may be there, but nothing major so far. I thought I’d check here to see if anyone else has been through this before and can give some suggestions as to what to look for specifically? I take the truck in for service like clockwork, but only to the dealer so far and I’m not sure they do any preventive maintenance on the suspension or even really know what to look for.

Same situation here, when the truck moved side to side slight popping noise. If I really pushed on the rear end side to side it sounded like rubber on rubber squeaking. Took it to the dealer and 10 days later got it back, retorqued the drivers side leaf pack and they put grease in between the leaf packs both sides. The grease was placed where the circular discs are. All quiet now

My supercab 17 drivers side makes noise also. I can powerwash it and it sounds good for a bit. Have sprayed the leafs, bushings, shock bushings with various products. Keeps coming back. My truck can sound like its 20 years old at times. Which is just sad. Some have this issue some do not. Most dealers just say, never heard of that one. Some say its the shocks bushings. Mine sounds like leaf spring issue or leaf spring bushings.

My wife's '17 SCrew Raptor creaks when getting in and out of the vehicle and while driving down the road. Is there a permanent fix for this or is it "Characteristic of the vehicle" as the dealer would say?

If it was my truck squeaking, I would get in there with a pressure washer and clean the suspension really well, but just be careful around the shock shafts, then I would spray some dry lubricant into the bushings, if that didn't last I would spray with a wet lubricant. I also have always pressure washed the underside of my raptor and coated it with fluid film, no problems with noise.

2 words for you: Salad bar.

Well, ok maybe that and the salad bar.

:p

I get it sometimes with Lucille and then I gently remind her I’ve been hitting the gym religiously, stop her whining, etc. If she continues to protest, I remind her that she’s dangerously close to 3 tons and no, she’s not just big framed...

When I took my truck from NY to Moab for a couple of weeks of awesome, I had bad squeaking. It went away after a careful wash of the bottom of truck.

Should have followed up on this one before. I jacked up each reach corner so the leaf springs relaxed, got some good marine-grade grease in there between leafs, and it has been quiet as a church mouse since. It’s actually just starting to give me some light groaning again, so I will repeat the process. It was easy and took about 30 minutes all in, plus $5.00 for the grease.

It's the result of contamination (dust/dirt) between the leaf spring packs. Ford recommends power washing the leaf springs to remove all contamination and then drying with compressed air. It helps to jack to truck up as well so that you can get better access to each leaf.

Thanks guys. I already tried jacking it up and power washing. Let it dry and sprayed 1/2 a can of silicone between the leaves. Didn't reduce the sound one bit.

Tomorrow I'll have my employees shake the truck while I'm under it so I can pinpoint.
